I'm going to have to agree with 'onemanarmy' on this one and say that you have to ignore the gauge when calculating fuel consumption. You can only go by the quantity of fuel pumped after having driven down a topped-off tank. The pump are inspected for accuracy by law.

I judged by a full tank, gallons of my tank, and miles used in the entire tank. Thats how I always calculate fuel mileage.

haha well i shall check this once she actually runs. ;) just talked to Mitchell on the phone. great guy. by the sound of it these motors are a dime a dozen out by Marlin Crawler. even though i may be doing arounf $500 for the motor. its still cheaper than any i've had around here. closer to $800 to $1000 from yota Jims.  . if im getting a late 22r with only 100K with compression higher than what I got (180 vs. 150) in it for ~$500 i think its worth it. at least in my area.

check me if im wrong. but; all I should need is a good head and block combo. witch it is. (180 comp.) and the intake manifold.

my LC header should interchange right?

same with my Weber adapter plates.

ones i don't know for sure if i can swap over:
the alternator bracket maybe ???
starter
flywheel or clutch?
20r distributor?

Well, to get an accurate MPG claim, fill up the tank, drive 100-200 miles of varying terrain and roads, and then fill up the tank the same way.   Then divide miles driven by gallons used.   you don't even need a fuel gauge to calculate mileage.

And this is only valid on a vehicle with the stock sized gears/tires/drivetrain  (or corrected with speedo gears and what not).    Without that, all claims are invalid.

OP, why not just get a running parts truck with the motor/trans you want and swap everything over?  All this back and forth is hard to follow.   Sweet truck though.  I had an 81 the same color.

If he is just changing over to a 22r then buying a parts truck is pointless in my eyes. But if he is doing a EFI 22re swap then yes, Absolutely buy a Parts truck so no matter what you have every part you need.

Ya Sorry bro about making it hard to follow. I tend to just speak (type) out loud what im thinking and considering. And the reason no "parts truck" is being considered  is because out here I'd pay about $1000. Generally on the low end too. But all I need is an 'R' motor. everything else is good. So if I can get a good one for only $500 hopefully less. Then I'm golden.

Hec the same condition motor around here I would pay $1000 for.!!

Well I talked to Mitchell Thursday, and I think we're still going to do the motor but today I will probably get in touch with him today.   about the shipping price, and one last review of what I can expect. I will let you guys know.

Also does any one know if the 20r distributor will fit in the late 22r  head?

That's what I've come to see. . SO.... shouldn't I get the the block with the late pistons in it?  Since that would lower the compression  by not having the "donuts" on them. :dunno:.

Why do you guys think this would be better by the way.?

lowering  the compression  on a hybrid that is?
NO NO NO, thats NOT what I was trying to say.

I will try tomorrow and dig out some pistons and get some pictures.

EVERYTHING will bolt right up. you will need a 22R intake and your weber will bolt right to it.
20R distributor in my opinion works BETTER.
get the gear reduction starter from a 22R it spins the engine over much easier than the direct drive 20R starter.

Hey sorry finally got around to getting a picture of the new sneakers. And wheels here they be .

I know it ain't a quarter, but here's the tread depth with a dime.

Paid $150 for the set of sneakers.

And a little under $200 for the wheels new. 4 wheel parts was having a clearance.

Just watch the area where that bead is torn.  There is a slim chance it might not give you any issues, but there is a chance of it leaking or the sidewall separating.
