you dont run the 22r in its best torque range because you want to get more mileage but you are going to swap aengine in thats almost twice as big ?   :headshake:

I mean no disrespect Glenn, and I have been driving the 22 are between three and 4000 RPMs consistently. And I do appreciate the more power gain it gives me. However the gas mileage I do watch it drop.  And perhaps the difference with yours to mine is your running pure gas and I am running ethanol from Conoco and Shell. But in any sense here's some pictures.

The new paint color from lowes. The quarter panel came out decent but the hood looks kind of trashy.

You can see we're the lines went on heavy and think and then thin. This was with a $15 gun from harbor fright. And $10 quart of valspar at lowes

And remember how I said that friend of mine would give me his 350? Well regardless of what I decide to do with it. here it is, it's mine. :)  I got the starter, alternator, flex plate/flywheel, new fuel pump, distributor, spark plugs and wires, and tomorrow or sometime this week I will be getting the Holly four barrel 600 carb.

I am not a fan of that paint color, but it's not my truck.........

time to toss in that 350 and be done with it..... generally, I like ford engines better, just because I am a ford guy, and I think you should stick to the same brand motor that your truck is... but at this point...... just toss in the 350 and be done.....

haha, this truck isn't that bad actually... and it was in a music video ;)

Bye bye chinook.

Been sanding and prepping all week for try number two on the paint. Got rid of that valspar crap. And retraced my steps. To get ready for some real automotive paint.

I'm also thinking away from the green and going with the original Toyota beige.. But in one of these 2 schemes.

It takes a big breaker bar and a new nut. You just have to force it off. I don't know of any way to un-stake it.

Quote from: mudmaster on June 23, 2015, 07:27:55 AM
With a hammer hit a small chisel between the nut and sleeve to bend it back and then remove the nut.

Theres a cold chisel you can buy, i will endeavour to find its correct name, that is an odd shape. When i find out i will let you know.

In reality though the nuts are not hardened much, get a piece of 1"x1/4 flat thats 2' long and drill two 3/8 holes in it to match the driveshaft hole centers in the pinion flange, then let rip at the nut with a breaker bar and a shallow 30mm socket. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NEW NUT, DOING SO CAN OVER CRUSH THE CRUSH SLEEVE. Which will affect the backlash between the pinion and ring gear causing premature wear, noise and possible gear failure. This is why pinion solid spacer kits are key to serviceability especially on an overland vehicle.

So I tried to put all pics in relevant order.. but donor truck is a 93.. through the crank arm in cylinder. 3. Busted two holes out of either side of the block.... but fuel Injection and starting was still solid.. it's a 2wd. And the left overs are for sale.. fyi.. rather sell the whole truck to get rid of it. (Tires not included) .. but anyway, there's about 3 harness es in the 93' truck.. engine/dash/ and alternator-headlights (atleast that's what I'm calling it..

So you don't really need to alter much of anything on the engine harness nor the alternator headlight harness. I also updated mine to now have the newer better alternator with the internal regulator that came stock with the 93'. The most snipping of wires happens I the dash harness.. which, once it's all said and done .. only leave the
purple check engine light wire
. The Black/Orange "Engine Fuse" wire
Ignition switch wires minus the ACC.(I kept mine since I didn't want to mess with my Accessories on my truck.)
A few good grounds the White/Black wire
Alternator-Charge Warning light wire, yellow wire.

And swapping fuel lines.

To go.. new size pick up line in tank 5/16" .. in line fuel pump..
Finish exhaust with 2 o2 sensors now.

Fyi a 2wd 3rd short bed tank fits in a 4wd 1st gen short bed. Bolt it, I've been told. However I have a long bed 1st gen.. so if anyone want an EFI tank... I got one.

Also,  I gutted to inside. We got some undesired rain and hail , here in CO. So it soaked all the interior , thankfully when I built the interior it DID have, I painted the subfloor in oil based paint, and I pull up the soggy carpet, and the subfloor wood and paint weren't even effected. So that felt real nice.👌

So I got allot of pictures going on, but over the past week, I worked the combination switch, new one from a yard, but then re greased all springs and detent balls, and cleaned the old dirty grease out of there.. also started the install for those sexy sr5 gauges. New speedo cable,

And 2 great tips!!!
A block plate for the egr on a 22r motor, makes for a GREAT steering wheel puller.. it's the same dimension across, where you thread the bolts in to pull it.

And if your horn doesn't work but your hazards do, then it's probably the connection of where the horns spring connector slides on the back of the steeringwheel .(haha, definitely not the official terms sorry) but I just took a blade, and scraped to see shiny new metal.. put it all back together..and WORKING HORN!!
