So I've been slowly parting out my built toy axles to put one tons and a 3rz in my 86 single cab then I found a smokin deal on this Tacoma so I think I'm just gonna throw everything on here and ditch the 86.

It is a 2000 x-cab sr5 model with the 3rz motor and w59 transmission so putting my dual cases in will be a breeze.
It's got 4 seats and air conditioning so I think it will be much better for me and the family.

Plans are
Dana 60 front
Dana 70 rear
39.5 iroks
Marlin duals with inchworm 5 to 1
shorten the wheel base to about 119''
double bob the bed to match.

I have messed up back right now so progress may be alittle low at first but I think I have enough parts to keep it interesting.

How I got it

The damage

Got a used bumper, made a huge difference

do they still make 5 to 1s?
I don't think so. I got a set used from a buddy a couple years ago and they've been good to me.
they're only 21 spline which worrys me a little but I should be OK as long as I don't get to stupid.

Here's the front axle. Its almost ready to go.   Its geared 488 with a Spartan locker, sky toyota driveline flange, a super beefy steering arm from some vendor on pirate.  I'm gonna make a drag link with 7/8 Ruff Stuff heims and just run it with low steer for the moment until I get another arm and make a tie rod.

Nice little pile of parts on deck just waiting on my back to feel better.

Yeah he is, but I didn't on my taco (I may regret it later). But honestly has anyone ever REALLY torn or broke their taco frame? Sure it's a thinner wall (barely) and c channel past the cab but has anyone actually had a problem or did everyone just start plating their taco frames because they THOUGHT something might happen?

on the two taco that we built you can actually tell that the frame bented right between the cab and bed.  maybe that is where its more weaken

That's right where the taco frames change from fully boxed to being c channel. Has nothing to do with plating up front but yes it's very weak there in my opinion and I'll be boxing my frame there.

Thanks!  I have kids and it will be nice to take more than one finally.  I think it will be cool to be able to do a little more wheeling with the family in something safe and comfortable.

I found the 60/70 combo on craigs list for $600 for the pair with factory 4.88s.   It was some old man that was parting out an 81 dodge W350
I'm just crossing my fingers this 3rz will push these 39s up a hill with 4.88 gears.
