This truck has performed flawless. After carrying too much gear into and out of the Con, I stopped in at Prairie City SVRA and ran a bunch of the obsticals and rock racing sections. I would still like to shorten the wheelbase but I'm not  as concerned anymore.

What is the wheel base currently?

Truck looks good. Glad to hear it worked good. I like the rear seat area nice and clean.

I was thinking about stopping there on the way home from the con as well just to check it out.

115" I was thinking I wanted it about 109-110" but now I'm cool with it. I may get it down to 113" otherwise I'll need to jump up to 40s :yuck:

Mudaddict, you should have. If you've never been, there is a bunch of rock sections, a track and a few man made obsticals.  Then there is mud in the winter, sticky nasty mud.

I think 112" is a good wheelbase. Universally good. My other truck was 111" and it did real good everywhere on 33s and then 37s. I think 40s can get away with more.

So, my change to my shocks location bit me in the butt. I changed the uptravel right before I left so I'd have a but less uptravel and more downtravel. Well, I pulled a lea from my rear packs to level out the truck and found that my shocks now have 3" or less uptravel, and with gear, just over 1" :yikes:  So I need to move the shock mounts :( Also, 125psi in the front air bumps is not enough, I'll full them up to 175psi and see what happens.

jrock

Thanks. We better see you next year at MCR12

Grenaded my front axle's Aussie Locker while going over a tire obstical.

Pictures will follow once I get the axle apart.

superyota

I gotta see this. You sure it's not the stock 4 cyl pin that broke? I thought you were running a lock rite up front?

Nope, Aussie. Had a Lock-rite but is sucked. It unlocked when you needed it to work and didn't unlock when you needed it too. This Aussie has worked terrific for 4 years of hard wheeling and the last 2 has been on 37s.

superyota

I betting the pin broke and not the locker. Either way, I'm getting nervous about mine now. Time for a arb

I'm going to move my Detroit to the front and put an open or welded in the rear. Later ill put an ARB in the rear.

superyota

Don't go welded! It's a disaster waiting to happen. Ask me how I know ;)

But for the short time it'll be in there, it could do fine :dunno: I hate welded/spools for ANY amount of street use but this thing has been trailered everywhere so far.

New truck looks awesome man. Bummer about the old truck but new one seems to be working out. Any more ideas about the soft top for the back?

No plans for the top yet. I have ideas but nothing in the works.

Newest update is my front third is pretty much toast without being destroyed. My gears are marked up and the pinion is chipped on the face and at the base.

I broke the center pin and all the locker pins. The center pin was able to warp my carrier and so I had to cut it up to get my locker back.

Now I'm trying to decide what to do. Rebuild the 4cyl third and put it back in the front... cheapest route. Or put the Detroit third (from the rear) in front and built something for the rear like a used ARB with new gears.

Anyway, I've decided to inboard the rear springs because it doesnt flex worth a damn as it sits. This will involve ubolt eliminates and revolver spring plates. Eventually jonny joint shackle hangers. This shouldnt cost much, mostly a lot of time and a little extra metal.

I'd stay away from lunchbox lockers. My EZ locker did the same thing yours did.

That Aussie is way preferred over a Lock-Rite I had in there. I had the Aussie for 4 years and 3 of them on 37s AND  i was a hard ass on that thing. What I think killed it was the slop in the rear Detroit. Crawling and really any 4x4 driving, the front Aussie would take all the abuse and jarring from the Detroit slopping back and forth. I noticed about 6 months ago that the Aussie had developed the same amount of slop as the Detroit. Should have pulled it out and check it all but that's how it goes. I strongly believe in the Aussie locker lunch box locker but only in the front.

NorCalPR

I've had a lock right in my v6 carrier in the front for the past 4 years with no issues.

If you need someone to build you a solid third, I'm very very competitive on install prices.
