I've wanted to wheel Crescent City for so long now. I here there are some really sweet places. If you know of any, I'd love to come up.

Worked on two other trucks today so I'm finally now able to work on buttoning up mine.

MRHilux87

There is some epic snow wheeling up here.  My yota is finally making progress but I wont be out till summer in it.

Is the snow consistent? Around here, you have to time your trips. It's only good for a day or so after it drops.

MRHilux87

Ya after a few days it gets a crust then it sucks.  Its defiantly the most fun during/right after the first couple big storms.  The last storm we had was cold but we only got a foot or so up top from what I heard.  Not much moisture.

It's not so bad if your not trying to clean it for show. I just give it a hose down enough to clean off the grit and the underside so stuff is clean for wrenching. Takes about 30 min. Before a long trip I'll clean it good. So I don't transport stuff all over the state :)

This one too a couple hours ;)

New breakage, but this time it wasn't the ring gear :D

I hope TG keeps their word on keeping the Longfield warranty :z

Hill climb with front end getting air and coming down while on the gas. It was a gnarly hill.

Can we say Dana 60?

Okay, new situation is my 3RZ started a lite knocking. Pulled the oil pan and found a decent piece of aluminum shaving. My local machine shop says balance shaft. LC Engeneering says balance shaft. So... I ordered a delete kit. Yay........ Just a few days before I leave for KOH.

Note: you can replace the timing chain without removing the head :)

I also repainted,

86bobbedtoy

I can do it on a 22re also, lust silicone at the hg and remove the pan

Slolyfe

Jeez. Your hard on equipment. Hope it all works out!
You'll never take me alive

jrock

After more research it does seem possible to delete the balance shafts without touching them. All that is needed is to cut off the balance shaft's chain. Why spend money when you don't have to.

Not as hard on mine as Steve was on his and I've still got baby axles ;)

jrock

So lesson learned.... When you pull the oil pan and you think there may be a bad bearing.... Pull the bearings and check. Just cuz the professionals say its one thing, doesn't mean it couldn't be another. Don't be lazy!

Balance shafts have been deleted, and I think I skipped a tooth on my timing chain. It's an absolute pain to start. Cranks and cranks! It'll fire and pop and after a minute it'll finally start running. Once it's running it'll run fine, but idle a little funny, surges a little. I think the computer is correcting for the timing chain once it's running. Damn :(

I put a set of TG 5" HD front springs in and what a difference. Problem though, they are different dimensions than the AP 5" I pulled out. They are longer and the front eye to pin is longer but holly cow! They are going to use all of a 14" shock. Now I need 14s :D I'm stoked about that. Longer springs fixed my shackle angle :)

My buddy hooked up his fancy OBD code reader and my problems were from a disconnected temp sensor. I unaware the temp sensor on OBD2 motors was so important.y computer was reading the block temp as some ungodly low number and flooded the engine with fuel. Problem solved !!!!

fancy stuff
very fancy. I haven't had new parts in a long time. It feels good :)!

Tungsten Slayer

Was it the balance shafts causing the knock in your 3RZ?  If so, how do you think you toasted them?  Off camber much?

jrock

There is still a knock :(  I believe I got my engine hot. My gauges didn't work for a time and I later found my radiator was 90% full of mud. I'll be pulling and checking my rod bearings after KOH.

jrock

These HD springs are totally kicking butt over the normal ones.
