Any links to tapered nuts to replace the cone washers and nuts on the steering arms?

Good luck with that, I had asked someone about this before and I was informed that you need to make sure that the taper is identical on both the arm and the nut.

But if you do find a source for the right cone nuts you could make a lot of friends very quickly.

I'm on it ;)

I was putting around my local metal scrap yard and came across the front half of a semi frame with a Detroit diesel and..... Bam!

No idea which one this is yet, but it's the AC from the semi, so it's likely the 210. Plus, it's got the serpentine pulley!!!!

No worries. It was good to meet you too, Bud.  :beerchug:

Anyone ever done this? It's working but it's taking for ever.

3/4" welds and pounding the crap out of them to counter the contracting weld pool. Waiting till it's cool to the touch and welding again, and jumping around so I can get at least two welds in at a time.
Started with,

*Ok, I can't post pics right this second due too TapaTalk being stupid.

jrock

fordh8r

Did it leak without the welds or were you just building it back up?

jrock

There was a dowel pin hole that had been half cut off and that lined up with the cutout for the ring gear. The rest was for the hell of it, I wanted more meat down there.

Slolyfe

Make sure you flush the crap out of it with wd/clean oil. There are lots of tight tolerances in that locker.
You'll never take me alive

jrock

4 cans of cleaner. It better be real clean. Plus, a couple cans thru the housing

Don't we all.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it.

fordh8r

Thus why I rarely use the word "meat".  :ha_ha:

jrock

You guys are terrible :P

And the axle should be going in today. Fingers crossed.

jrock

Axle went in and the eLocker was manually stitched to lock, wheeled it hard and nothing unlocked or broke. Sweet. A wiring harness needs to be built for the eLocker but for now, I'll just drive it in the locked position, can't really see why I'd need to unlock it really :P

Someone managed to destroy a Dirty30... imagine that... :)

This HP isn't as HIGH as I thought it'd be,

HogCanyonHopper

have you considered the cable conversion for the e-locker? seems like a pretty reliable set-up.  :dunno:

That's a pretty nice piece. I'd be tempted to get just the actuator for $300 and just make it air operated with an air cylinder.

jrock

Cable actuator is way too pricey. Air actuator is too complicated with too many parts. I've got the wiring, I just need to pick it up. And itll be installed but I'm in no hurry ;)

These elockers are cool, they stay locked indefinitely until the switch turns it off. Cool :)

jrock

Well I'm giving this one last chance. I'll Cryo a set of gears and hope for better luck. Snows coming and I'll simply stick to that. Next break is 60s.

John Doe

Any idea what caused the ring gear to go out?

I was super bound with my passenger front in an undercut trying to backup. It was beginning to lift my rear end (not realized until after) on top of that, cheap no name gears.

tgmaul88

jrock

Yup. I think it was due to cheap gears. I still can't believe I haven't broken an axle or something else.
