I should be updating this thread more. Lots going on. So, KOH was a blast, thou I didn't wheel nearly as much as I'd have liked. Spent a lot of time in the pits and Hammer Town. So many sweet rigs. Got lots and lots of ideas ;)

First night I went to Chocolate Thunder and rolled within 2 min of locking my hubs :P but got that outta my system. Later in the week we ran Wreckingball and I concurred my last years only winch point, the Waterfall. One-shotted it! Stoked hardly defines how happy I was. The rest of the week was mostly running around, nothing special.

As for the rig..... The week before leaving for KOH, my engine developed a knock. I called around, everyone said balance shafts. So out they came. And... knock is still there. So, bottle of Lucas and I'm running it for now.

Got home from KOH and within 5 min my front diff blew up. My backside carrier adjuster backed off and opened my backlash like 1/4"! I'm done with 5.29s! I'm throwing in stock 4.10s. While everything has been apart, I went ahead and rebuilt another front axle. Mine was bent, not surprisingly. Thanks to Smokeybeans for the trussed and gusseted axle ;) I put some final touches on it. Replaced the driver perch, fully gusseted the truss, cut off the passanger lower plate thing, shaved the drain plug, added an inspection plug, and will be adding an axle skid.

And welded up my new to me diffs.

More to come.

More stuff.

On its way..

Helped a friend and gave him my old 5" front shackles. I put my 5.5" back up front and threw some 6" out back. Thanks Stlrstlr. Finally got to mounting my 14"/12" shocks and man do they fit good. More up and down travel, and I won't be maxing them out. Should run really well.

And my truck is back on it own springs again, with the new front axle. Thanks again Smokeybeans.

looking good Jerome. I am curious how welding that rear truss works/worked out. and do you have your rear springs inboarded? if so, how much and how do you like the flex? shocks vertical? that pup must be big by now

Welding the truss will take a lot of time. It'll be stitch welded in short sections. My rear springs are inboarded, something like 5.5" on both sides. The rears now match the front in spring width. And the flex it much much better. I can run a stiffer spring and since the axle has more leverage on it when articulating, it flexes easy. But I have a better weight capacity. Shocks are vertical and leaned forward.

The pup is big and so much energy. She minds really good. Couldn't have asked for a better pup :)

jrock

Finally did it. Took longer to get it to fit the Tacoma housing than it did to weld it.

zippo

That is the most welded, welded diff i have ever seen! Looks AWESOME!
If you see it, its for sale.

jrock

Haha, I have a tendency to break things, I didn't want it to break :)

Plan is to find another housing for MCR. The knuckle ball is split in half. I'm quite surprised, I've actually never seen this. Ive got an axle lined up local, it's going to last until I can get some beef under this thing.

TallChevy... ;)

What did this was a 4ft ledge I didn't quite see going 30mph. With a little hump at the bottom, it hit pretty good though it landed really soft. I can't wait to tear it apart and see what else is broke :(

brockbuilt85

wow i didn't realize how bad this was from the facebook pic, holy smokes!

Dingman.

Yea, the only reason i did 60/14bolt cause i coupdnt keep toy diffs alive

jrock

I've had that problem too, but I since switched to 4.10s to save money and stop breaking. Now I'm worried about my outputs and input.

superyota

Dang!  You break more crap than anyone i know!  Lol.

Does he still have that? Haha. He's probably not able to go but I'll see. Otherwise I could be riding with another local Yota. It'll be down to the wire whether or not I get to go :(
