Little updates on my behalf due to the lack of picture worthy progress. Thou, now it's done, I have a picture.
It looks higher in the back still, I need to put an AAL in the front to return my springs to there 3" lift rating :) Too many times going negative has flattened them completely :p

The shock looks a bit close to the u-bolt plate. I'll see if it hits when I find something to flex on.

Great clearance.

Not a great picture but you can see the whole thing.

This setup works good! I love it. No change in body roll on or off road. I will put bump stops in to limit uptravel by ~1". The tires rub the crap out of the cage on compression. I love it :)

so it looks like your shocks don't hit the u bolt plate right?

looks good!!!!!

It is so freakin close. It only gets this close when it flexes. When I add the bumps, it will solve the issue. If you look close at the spring clamp, its hitting the gas tank but just barely. Also will be fixed with the bumps.

Also on this trip I managed to jump my truck a few times and hit a few whoopy section on the beach. The rear worked great and the Fox shocks barely got warm. The front with the air bumps took all the hits and never complained but the Bilstiens got hot! I need to get some res. shocks in there.

jrock

New truck is all together and rocking hard. I still need to weld up the rear, might spool it, want to ARB it. Inboarded rears are awesome! Holy heck they flex good for springs. Been to the beach, snow twice, snow in a few days, and Hammers in about a month! Yeah!

We all love pictures so here's a couple.

Xmas Eve Day run out Hwy 36 near Ruth Lake. Crusted over snow with like 3ft of powder underneath. 1/2 day run. Very few pictures :(

A large club run, Redwood Offroad Club, running Titlow Hill off Hwy 299. The snow was perfect, powder just like the Sierras. Almost couldn't make a snow ball it was so dry. Lots of Jeeps! Holly balls lots of Jeeps! I managed to pass all this and plow the way, ahead of a BUILT jeep on tons, a built SB 350 on 42 Iroks. I had a GREAT day :) The second pic is me starting to pass people. The last pic is me finally getting stuck, on the way back. 2psi on 37s can only take you so far ;)

By the way, I need to say........ I FREAKIN' LOVE MY NEW 3RZ-FE MOTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like so much freakin fun I'm jealous.

Another trip. This time somewhere new to me, I'm not really sure of the name but its off hwy 36, the road starts as mad river rock rd. We made it more than a few miles in. I broke trail and I think I fried the gear oil in my cases :P

jrock

Welded the rear third. I don't think I will ever do that again. Looks iffy.

NorCalPR

The gear oil is nearly impossible to remove. Even after you clean it some will still be in the metal ;)
"W6FTW"

jrock

So are you recommending I flush the cases? I'm planning to run royal purple 75w-90 next.

superyota

Bad idea on welding the third. I guess we'll see how it holds up at hammers.

Looks like you guys had a blast in the snow. Wish I was there.

I meant on the third. The reason why welding a third is such a bad idea is you are removing the treatment on the gears so they become weaker. You also have the oil impurity in your weld.

Royal purple is probably the worst stuff you can run. Google "gear oil study"

Regardless, your transfer case oil is probably still fine. The temp has to be much higher than 200 degrees to cook it.....

I'm thinking I fried the oil because after breaking trail in the snow, low range 2nd gear and fast, for an hour at a time for the whole day. Towards the end of the day my truck smells like burning gear oil. I though maybe some leaked on the exhaust but there is no leaks to be found anywhere.

I have super cheap oil in there now, MasterPro with a quart of Lucas stabilizer.

"One thing I've noticed is the 3rz is dogging in the 750-1500rpm range. It idles real strong and above 1500 it takes off! It currently has a huge exhaust, it will be reduced from 3" to 2.25". Its got the 22re fuel pump. Any ideas on the sluggishness?

So a 3rz fuel pump puts out 38-44psi while a 22re fuel pump puts out 33-38psi... would this cause a lul in low end power or high?"

are you still have this problem if so its the fuel pump you need the 3rz pump sweet build by the way

I haven't resolved this issue yet thou I should update what Ive found. The scanner says I have a bad O2, presumably the one before the cat. I have noticed that the stumble goes away after the engine has been running for a while and is at temperature. I thing the stumble may be worse after I have disconnected the battery, when I store the truck. I will be replacing the #1 O2 soon.

As for the fuel pump, Ive been told by a mechanic, the pressures are close enough that their is no problem. The pressure regulator at the fuel rail is set lower than this. Anyway, I have the T100 3rz fuel pump and will probably swap it in and look for any changes. I believe there would be a problem in the high rpms if the pressures were too low, and I have seen no issue with the high rpms :)

So after reading the gear oil studies.... I am really baffled that Royal Purple has been around as long as it has. The test results from the "Oil Tek Solutions, White Paper Test" (sponsored by Amsoil) put RP below Valvoline 80w-90 conventional. Amsoil 75w-90 (you would think, "of course" ) is the leader in all around performance by a landslide. This test was sponsored by Amsoil but was conducted by an outside group and done too Federal standards.

Anyone have pictures of added gusseting on a Bud Built crossmember?  Mine is getting pretty beat up and weak.

Haha, I forgot about that. Rock in front and one in the rear. I had to pull over to let a bunch of people thru on Big Sluice. They were nice enough to help me out :)

No beer was involved in the event ;)
