ya, i cut the flanges out of the old tank.  you just have to be sure and align them right when you weld them back on.  and i put 2 baffles in it.  about 6 inches tall with 1 1/4 inch holes on the bottom to let the gas flow through still.  make sure they are out of the way of the sending unit!!  are you talking about the tubes for the filler?  i cut the whole piece out of the old tank and welded it on the new one.  but it had some aluminum sodder or something on the outside.  it woulded like :pokinit:.

yotaboy79

thanks for the info i need to find someplace with the parts made out of aluminum if you have any ideas let me know

still gotta find out why it won't start.  i think something got wet in that last rain stomr we had.  it wouldn't start after that.

Hey Jason.  the longest my uppers can be is about 46 inches.  so we made them that long then the lowers should be about 58 inches roughly?  that would put them infront of the horsehoe crossmember.  the exhaust might be in the way.  but that isn't a big deal.

boggerunner

that tank turned out nice, how many gallons is it?

was 15.2 by calculations.  but it ended up a little less becasue i had to drop the pump down 2 1/2 inches.  so maybe around 14.75 gallons.  once i get it filled up i will let you a'' know.

what all can u build a fuell cell out of, i know i cant weld stainless, and aluminum, could i use 1/8 or 1/16 steel, and coat it in something? i would love to build my own tank

Hyena

you probably could.  i was going to but got a deal on the stainless.  tyring to keep the steel from corrosion is gonna be the hard part i would guess.

Heres some stuff to seal fuel tanks. Its an epoxy that you put in the tank and then roll the tank around to coat the inside.

still not running.  replaced the fuel filter, put in a spare computer and still it won't start.  thinking it is the efi relay.

I looked while we were working on a friends truck. There is not a fuel pump relay under the hood. My friend is a mechanic and he said the EFI relay would not be the problem. I would check the other relay cluster inside the cab behind the glove box. There may be a fuel relay there. You can try swapping the efi relay but as far I know that only controls the injectors and such.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Hyena

hmm, thanx.  i guess i can save a little money then and not buy the relay.  i am gonna check the computer today and see if they one i barrowed is the right kind since they have to be of the right years.  i didn't know that untill after i got home.

are you getting any fuel up at the engine.  Try cracking the cold start open after you turn the key on and see if you are getting any fuel preasure.  I had this kinda happen to me and it ended up being my computer.  It got shorted out somehow and when a new computer got put it it worked just fine.  I found out that I ended up running power accidentally to a ground wire and fried the computer.

Hyena

i do have fuel going to the cold star injector.

gotrocks

do you have spark?  I know that might be a stupid question but I'm just going through the obvious ones so that we can figure it out.  What I would try is if you have spark as well use some starting fluid and see if it will fire off of that.  If so you can narrow it down to either an injector problem or a lack of fuel problem.

locktup

Brad, I think it may be the new tires. I'll help you out and take them off your hands.

Hyena

ha, you already have new tires that are better then mine lol.  i will trade though.

Hyena

it gets spark.  we sprayed brake cleaner down the intake and it runs.  so it is a fuel problem.  chris is coming over today to look at it.  he said he might know the problem.  something in the wiring.

Hyena

it runs.  it was the big connection under the carpet for the feul pump.  it broke and came apart.  steering is awesome.  one small leak on a fitting on the ram.  i need to bleed the box too.  i can tell the loss of power with the 40's.  gonna have to drive around in low range from now on.  first gear is ok but it won't go up any hills in second.

what psi are you running when your driving around i can hardly turn them in 2hi at trail pressure but barly notice the differince between them and my old 36's when there aired up to 16 and 14
just an idea

Hyena

i have no idea.  i haven't checked the pressure since i put them on.  i am pretty sure it has something to do with the engine too.  it seems to lack power at times.  probably throwing a couple codes but of course i have no dash lights.  i am not worried about it since i don't drive it on the road anyway.

I can barely turn my 38s in 2wd with my hydro assist.

Hyena

steering wise i can turn them easily on the pavement with the hubs locked.
