Making Of The Willy Mammoth

Not a stupid question at all, these are clekos. They are used in aircraft and custom auto construction.

They are temporary fasteners so you can position your panel and remove it for trimming or other purposes until you are ready to attach it permanently.

You drill a 1/8" hole in the two pieces you want to hold together, then use the special pliers to insert it in the hole. They spread apart and grab the back panel and hole it tight to the front panel.

Oh.. you were straight west of us. I grew up in Essex county. You were probably in the mountains out there then. Nice area.
I grew up in the area where the Soprano's was filmed. In fact, my grandparents house was less then a mile from the Soprano's house.

Don't know about a masterpiece, but it is one of a kinde that is for sure.


BTW, all I got done tonight was some more welding. This is going to take some time, it has to be tacked and let cool and keep tapping it straight or it will be all warped from the heat and the pulling of the welds.

Man it must suck, usually you've got a job this small done and painted, sucks to have to deal with that thin metal to keep it from warping.

At least it is 18 gauge and not 20 or even 22 gauge like some newer cars.  BTW the tub is 16 gauge That makes it's real fun to straghten out when it gets bent.

You misunderstood me. Most of the time he doesn't have the time. This is a rare case that he actually does have the time. And it is fortunate that he does as the hood is so critical.

  LOL! But we most likey will not have the time or definetly will not have the hills to test the radiator on. This is going to be a wing and a prayer on that and hopefully we can post on the road from where we are on that.
