Man that is so cool to have a husband/wife tag team on a project truck
that's why I love my old lady. I had to do the brakes on her car, she says she wants to help and comes outside with her pants rolled up wearing a tanktop and a pink bandana to hold her hair back and jumps right in. I showed her what to do on 1 wheel and she had all 4 done (properly, and torqued to factory spec) in under 2 hours. I got to play "DOT" and sit there drinking beer smoking cigarettes while she did my dirty work we both loved it hahaha every good man needs a mechanically inclined woman.

Read every page of this thread and I am very disconcerted about the news of the stroke. I've been following this thread for years (lost my previous profile to email/password BS) I hope you recover to finish this project. I'd almost donate $$$ to the cause if someone were to be in on it with me for a PayPal or some other type of account. Damnit, heal! YOU can heal and we will help! But you can't big a new Willy Mammoth!

Hey, I'm not sure if anybody remembers me, but it's been a long time. From what I see reading back is, Diane and I got divorced. Separated in 2008. Then a few years down the road she lost her life in a motorcycle accident, bottom line is her boyfriend killed her. it was his fault.  Now on my side, I  was engaged for a few year and the did not pan out. many girlfriends later I met an amazing woman and now my life is going in the right direction. Her name is Kathie and she it the one for me. Now, yes I had a stroke, small one. I am doing good, did not loose anything. Still have all my skill's. Whoo. LOL I did try to carve off a few fingers once or twice. I can't remember it happens all the time. LOL So, being maybe 10 years older or so, I am getting ready to start on my unfinished project. The Mammoth. It has been sitting in and out of the garage and Has a bad brain. It runs sometimes and sometime it won't. So I am replacing the injection pump with a mechanical pump. Now this is not an easy task and I have done a lot of research. Seems that a Mitsubishi 4M40 pump will fit the 1kzt. I have one coming form the UK. It going to take almost two months to get here, I think it is swimming? I will try to show all the steps to make it work. I know there are others needing to do the same.

To fit in with the current group, please provide your opinion on the Toyota spec for spark plug tightness. Bonus points for an opinion on a 261 cam for a 22R-E.  🤣 No spark plugs on the Mammoth  :smack:

Should talk to Lilsteve on here. He is from the UK and knows a lot about the diesel motors. He may have some information for ya.

I would love to be able to get a 4m40 pump for mine. When you do it be sure to get good enough pictures of the throttle brackets and anything else needed to be made. I have a spare brain that i could let you borrow if you just want to get it on the road. Im having trouble with my pump. A replacement is swimming over from the UK as well.

Very glad to hear you're back and doing well!  I share the story of your build with customers and have had some come back and tell me they looked up your build thread and were very impressed

Looking forward to seeing how this mod pans out!  I am still on the fence about running this engine in my 80 but would be much more interested if I could go manual.
