Started to remove a bunch of stuff I don't think it needs. What all this stuff is has me baffled. It was an automatic trans and I assume it has a lot to do with the transmission. I have two solenoid valves left and one is in the way. It will have to be removed. Looking for any documentation on what this stuff does.

The sensor on the right is a magnetic tack sensor. It is very close to the oil cooler on the engine block. If you don't have a tachometer that will work with the sensor it can be removed and a 3/8" Allen pipe plug can be used to plug the hole. https://www.amazon.com/EDGE-INDUSTRIAL-Brass-COUNTERSUNK-Water/dp/B07D3HTX9T/ref=sr_1_12?crid=2C6F137YTHDWA&keywords=3%2F8+brass+plug&qid=1552242946&s=industrial&sprefix=3%2F8%22+brass%2Cindustrial%2C154&sr=1-12

The solenoid on the left is a return bypass. Not needed and it may be in the way. Remove the solenoid and put a banjo fitting in it's place. You can cut off the extra line and solder up the opening with 45% silver solder or a braising rod.

I found both are not needed. The one on the left is a bypass valve. and the right is a magnetic tach sensor.

The main fuel line is not used, you need to use the one off the old pump.

The lower pump bracket is not used. The big thing with the water pipes is not used. Take the cover off the old pump and use it to cover the opening. Note I have see this cold start break off and damage the pump online. So I would not want it on my pump.

There is a vacuum diaphragm for more power if you have air conditioning, Part of the throttle linkage can be removed if you do not have an automatic.

Diesel do not need a throttle plate, they use the pump to control the power. You can remove the throttle plate and make a spacer or remove the flap and leave it in place.

Willy, you've inspired me. My freshly rebuilt motor has been running poorly latey and I'm certain it's the pump that is causing it. I've just ordered a 4m40 pump. I'm going manual!!

I have decided that the wiring is a royal mess and after 14 years of doing this and doing that. I think it think it time to redo all the electrical. New gauges that work and all new controls. New fuse box and relays. Have to get a glow plug timer so I don't have to keep changing glow plugs. I have an Idea, will let you know what I come up with.

This should be here today and I can do a bench test.

This is only a high amp draw relay. Will need special plug or loose wires and it is more $$$.

Not quite sure what you are looking for, but this is a start. I still have to hook up my throttle pull for the welder.

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. My injectors arrived today and I think the post office has my pump. They left a note on my door that they tried to deliver a package. Usually they would just leave it if it wasnt international.

You and Mark should go on a show like Junkyard Wars or another build/fabrication type show.  If we could get the two of you in a garage together you might be able to sell seats to the show that would result.  Two "mad scientists" getting things done.

That would be fun to have a block of time that I could dedicate to fabrication/modification. I miss that show "Junkyard Wars"

Had to advance it about 3/4 the distance of the slot so far. It's all by sound and how the engine runs. I am sure there is a better way, but I do the best I can with the knowledge I have. I have an exhaust temp gauge so I can watch out for high temps.
