yep! its all the same (case wise) just the rails and forks are different! The fork actually has the shifter seat on it..... $Beer Chug\'n$

ok thanks man. I will have to see what i can find. I might end up just buying a kit then because top shift cases are hard to come by around here and if someone does have one they probly wont part it out.

yeah they are... luckily i have 4 topshift cases and 5 or 6 forward shifts so my parts are plentyful!

I've got the duals in!!! had to redo my crossmember a bit then I ran out of wire in the miller.... $I\'m Down$
Trying to get my long slip square/balanced and damn its a pregnant dog......

Luckily my driveline i had made for my 84 std cab bolted right up perfectly!!!! might just wait until tomorrow to finish the front driveline after we get more wire instead of using stick... I'm tired!!! Still have to fill it up with gear oil, cut the hole in the floor and install the shifters to make it driveable...

Lucky! i need some top shift parts. so did you have to convert both cases to top shift for duals, or can you convert the rear case and leave the front case a forward shift? I'm just wondering if i need to find two sets of top shift stuff or just one.

well you need to find out which series of transmission you have .... R151F? should be forward shift so you just need the rear case to be topshift. My runner has the W56 A so its topshift.... I didnt realize it was topshift untill I was getting ready to throw the duals in..... So now I have dual topshift cases!

In your case you have 4.7s in the rear so you would need to clearance the top shift fork..... Marlins top shift kit is already clearanced!

well the runner is SLOW........

got it all done except for the front driveline.....

yeah i'm packin an R151F. I will leave the first case front shift and convert the rear case to top shift. Probly gonna get marlin's kit. I dont know anyone around here that has top shift parts.

So do you have dual ultimates now. or just duals?

just duals.... I'm still sportin the old AA dual adapter with stock 2.28's...... this is actually the third yota I've had them in too! First in my 84 reg. cab, then the 92 reg. cab (poor yota)

.... and now the 85 runner. only trouble I had was shearing the input shaft in the front case... but I wasnt being very nice to it....

I will be doing almost the same setup you have in the 92 (drivetrain wise) when I get rollin on that next summer......

hey man i rocked the stock gear dual setup for six years in the pumkin! It worked great! Its gonna be really nice for both of us to upgrade to the dual ultimates though

Notched a few things off the list.... duals are in and front DL is DONE! Scratched the 8 inch in the back,
~~-12 inch slip for front DL~~
~~-Swap in duals and xmember~~
-get a set of 12'' Bilsteins for the rear (I mounted my ranchos almost straight up and down last night)
-bumpstops all around
-Move steering box forward 2 1/2 inches
-Install steering stablizer
-30 spline Longs
-Install Marlins HD inner axle seals
-Install my amp/5x7s/6x9s/and get a sub
-Build F/R bumpers and sliders
-Mount set of quick release mudflaps
-Build my other engine: .020 over, new head/cam/valves, 300cc injectors, big bore TB
-Marlin HD semimetallic clutch kit
~~-Transmission shifter bushings~~
-New switch for rear window
-Minor fender trimming
-PAINT JOB

Little disappointing though..... I found a HAIRLINE crack in my front crawl box.... I'm sure its from running that damn driveline that kept bottoming out...

Its leaking a tiny bit so I'm just going to run it for a while and keep an eye on it..... I also had to notch the frame crossmember in order to keep the CV from hittin.... Tested it out on the way home and it runs smooth at 70 mph in 4WD.

Well a small update: pulled the rear diff to reseal it and found 3 broken teeth on the spiders so it got welded. Installed another heater resister block- all fan speeds work now!!!

Last but not least; dropped my 22re block off at the machine shop to get bored .020 over and torque plated.

Going to order my rebuild kit from engnbldr either this week or next week!! Pretty stoked to get the bottom end built then should get the new head in March.

Getn engnbldrs RV Street head with the crawler cam, OS SS valves, blah blah, my intakes already ported, getn a Big Bore TB, new TPS, new 200-300cc injectors (havent decided yet), electric fan, EGR block off, dual row timing chain setup... oh and a killer paint job

If all goes as planned and depending on shipping, I should have the bottom end built before march.

you're going to love that cam, that's what I've got in mine... I love the performance and it really makes my yota sound like a tractor at low rpms LOL
