Sorry to jack your thread, glen.  So how bad is it really to tow with a 4 cylinder?  I towed a truck 16 hours back from CO and was wondering if I should be concerned.  The truck still runs like it did before.  It really didn't like towing that rig though. I have a fresh rebuild with 3500 miles.

well my truck wasnt "right"  befor i towed,   , i had plenty of power except when i hit the steeper hills,   it was fairly stable,  but the one time i had to stop fast i slid all 4 tires :yikes:

the KB pistons and 060 over size is where my problems are im sure,  if its the head i think i'' still pull it and put it in my celica

and find a uncut block and put some nice stock toyota pistons in it

Well I for one am not sorry for "jacking" Glen's thread.

I tow with my Yoda and have no trouble at all with doing so. if it's set up right it can be done.

My tent trailer weighs about 2.5K lbs. I have towed as much as 4K, butt would not want to go to far with that kinda load. not for the abuse of the truck, just that's a lot of weight with out brakes on the trailer. (was not my trailer that time!)
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

79coyotefrg

yea im guessing that van was around 4000 lbs  i had plenty of power but everytime i got on the gas it would start getting hot  :dunno:   i just assumed it was because of being bored .060 over :headscratch:   i have wondered if my oreilly's timing chain stretched  causing  some of the over heating ???

well number 4 piston its junk,  looks just like the one on the top of page 8  :tantrum:   both of these pistons came from www.Beckracing.com

so  i am going to have another block bored .030  or .040  and run Aisin pistons,   i might get another piston for that block if its not cracked but i have a feeling it is

i am so aggravated right now i could scream,

Glen,

Not to sound over critical here, but.

Why don't you stop screwing around with all that high performance stuff and go with a stocker.

You have the dual cases to install and that will give you the power you need to get up the steep hills.

At least you will have a reliable engine and that is what is most important.

It's not a race car you know.

Then save up for the 3RZ swap.

Well lets see, I've got 60 over pistons (from LC eng.) cam, bottom end. head work done with bigger ehaust valves in. (i did the porting and maching) dist re curve, header,  took the fan off and IB running electric fans. (black magic)

I've only had the head off once sence I put it together (2years and a half ago ) cuz the POS gasket by Victer burned though. :tantrum:

so the ? is, what are you doing to your poor truck Glen??   :headscratch:   :dunno:   :_order:

well i pulled the head off,  #4 and #3  pistons are both broke,  the head has dents and has some erosion :dunno:  of #3 water jacket,  so the only sealing is actually  on the fire ring and thats it

so this head is junk

i have a good ported  22R head,  i am thinking about running it,  maybe getting it decked for a good clean surface
