i have considered a Cologne 2.9 ford and aod,  should button right up,  light weight  and man those little motors are HOT

well glen    cut out the fenders  and "tube it"   and if U realy need fenders  sheet metal

So now after the need for an engine rebuild and talks of tube fenders and such has this turned into the budgetless rebuild??..j/k, Ever decide what to do about the carb?

yea  im going to try the aisin carb from the 86 truck,  everybody says they handle the steep inclines way better than a weber, and i know the weber dont like anything past a 45* angle
of course since i have the duals  that will help


and no,  THEY were talking tubes and 454  not me

I've had real good luck with my stock carb. Dropped the float and vented the float bowl vent outside the carb.  I need to get a regulator though(wish list).   Seems to handle offroading better then a few weber's I wheel with.  The 38 outlaws had a little more power and response though.

one thing i like about the weber is they are so easy to tune,  this things has like 10  switch hicky things

What kinda fuel pump you running,pressure wise? On my old 79 i ran a 12 buck electric pump that only put out 2-3 psi. So i didnt have to run a regulator. Worked perfectly.

without the proper equipment  a guy gotta do  what a guy gotta do

a drill, a big vise, a flat screw driver, a 4 inch file, some rags, fine and course grinding compound,  and a bench grinder

i first spun the valve to check for trueness,

good thing too cause 2 of the exhaust valves were bent

found some replacements  and cleaned them up  using the drill to spin them and the flat screwdriver on the top pushing down  helped the grinding and cleaned the face of the valve too

yep   ,  well it was on a door,  i wanted to go all new stuff but i HAD to get it running ,  so i stole the oil pump from the celica,  checked it and its in perfect shape so thats a $100  saved,  checked the length  on the 20R chain  and it showed no signs of stretch,  ( only run a few thousand miles)  so it went on 

now all i need is to finish drilling the pinion flanges and weld the rear shaft
