So.  I Set up my own diff this time.

We will see how long this one lasts.. 

We set it up before and went wheeling on it, and when i drove it to work on a monday i noticed some noise coming from it. and somehow it lost all pinion preload and the pinion could walk in and out about 1/8" to 1/4" inch.. So i pulled it out and threw my stock 4.10 back in.

Well saturday i went to tighten my diff studs cause they were loose and the bottom stud snapped off.  So i had to pull it again to fix it.. So i decided to just setup that same 5.29 myself and see what happens.  Well i got it good, removed some shims from the solid spacer and got everything nice and tight.  And its still making some noise.  Only on deceleration with the truck in gear.  If im on the gas, or just coasting you cannot hear it.  I don't know what that means other than its either A) going to break, or B) going to break!    No really im not sure whats going on .. the pattern was decent and everything was tight.  I read online that its possible for the gears to make noise when its trying to wear a pattern, especially after the original pattern was shitty. 

ive put close to 200 miles on it so far and im just gonna see what happens i guess.  Ill drain the oil in another 100 miles or so, and maybe pull it out and inspect it after the 500 miles "break in" time.

Any thoughts on this?  Other than i have SUPER SUPER shitty luck with differentials?

So today involved:

Me:  beating the out of my front fender and driver door since my truck is crazily attracted to trees.    And had a problem with my OBA cause one of the stupid cheap-o fittings decided to be gay and not work.  Besides that i LOVE that front arb by  the way!

Thomas:  Got some scars in his passenger door for who knows what reasons.
Oh and he blew a bead and ripped a valve stem out.  other than that i think things were good for him.

Linnie:  Broke a dana 44 ujoint i believe.  AND STILL did bomb with only 3 wheel drive!    Was still doing awesome and had to pull jesse's truck off logs a few times on the way home!

Jesse:  kept getting high centered and eventually had to leave his truck behind because it was too intense for ifs and 33's with open diffs.  Made it pretty damn far for how equipped his truck was

Matt: didn't have any problems that i know of other than his hydro assist not working correctly and no doors. lol  I am not sure if you even got stuck once...

I think we all got stuck at one point or another (unsure on matt's truck)  Either had to be pulled or winched.
There was quite a few times that were sketchy.  A few near flops and a few close calls with sliding off some intense side hills.

I thought it was a good day though!    it sure was nice getting getting to go up in the truck!  God knows its been way too long!

i ripped my brake lines off my rear axle   phillbrook to inskip with no brakes was interesting.. oh and i got stuck once and it was dumb.. driver front broke through and my link was sitting on a rock and couldnt get any traction to get off it.
