A few pics, much more to come. Broken arrow was a fun trail, awesome scenery.. Its just like moab, grippy as hell! We didnt get any weather until later in the afternoon but it was still a cool day. Around dark we did a run through a little known trail near flagstaff that has some fun stuff on it and I got wedged in a spot. The 4skinner no longer has a perfect body. :gap: So after a minute or 3 I got out with minimal damage considering how bad it could have been. about 10pm we went on a night run in the fresh snow. I only had my lights on for about half of the trail, so much fun! It was a great day, gonna run another trail in the snow tomorrow

Yeah, they load up 8 tourists that payed $75 each and haul ass around the loop in an hour. I dated a chick that works for them and she says they make 5 grand a day with each jeep and they own between 40-45 of em!

it sounds like a diesel lol. I have a 2.5 in setup with a dynomax muffler. I like it, not too loud, not too quiet, and it doesnt sound all ricey. The squeak/rattle you hear in the videos is due to a broken hanger, so I put a giant hose clamp on it. Those were taken with my pos kodak 8mp digital camera. It takes shitty pictures, but the videos are decent! the first time we ran that trail was in the dark, or else I'd have some better videos/pictures.

Thanks guys! I just got back to phx today, got a chance to look at all of my pics and videos on my badass 32in hd monitor and surround sound vs. the shitty laptop screen/speakers. I guess my runner does sound pretty good, never heard it from the outside before! haha. I will definately get some more videos up soon, I would have a bunch if I knew how to edit them!

Now onto the other news... I spent a few days figuring out the problem a lot of people are having with breaking elocker side gears. I have heard of this happening about 10 times, all on minor climbs and sometimes in 2wd. Heres some background
http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=806250
http://gearinstalls.com/elockerbroken.htm

The elocker rear 3rds when retrofitted into an early pickup or 4runner leaf sprung housing are lacking between 7 and 8mm of spline engagment into the side gears of the diff, due to a narrower center inside of the diff(apparently to accomodate the elocker mechanism). Most people running this combination are not having problems, But a few have broken side gears. The real probem exists when you are using a coil sprung 4runner housing as these are 7mm wider on each side(axle and housing), 14mm total, and then use an aftermarket axle shaft designed for a leaf sprung ifs width housing(all aftermarket axles I have seen are designed for leaf sprung ifs housings). You are lacking 14-15mm of engagment on each side, all of the force is transferred to the weakest part of the side gear and BANG! The good news is, since the coil sprung axle shafts are 7mm's longer to accomodate the 7mm wider housing, we have a near perfect solution.
SO:

Leaf sprung ifs housing, retrofitted elocker = weak link

Coil sprung housing, coil sprung shafts = weak link

Coil sprung housing with leaf sprung shafts = BANG!
BUT
leaf sprung housing with coil sprung shafts = full spline egagment within 1mm and one less thing to worry about.

I did all measurments on a TG elocker housing, which you'd think they would have designed to correct this problem(since they sell shafts for it and all). I used 86 backing plates with 93 shafts and some new bearings and seals from marlin pressed on with a home made tool to verify the engagment.
With the third out of the housing and both 86 shafts installed, the gap between the axles measured 42.79mm. With the coil sprung 93 shafts the same measurement was 28.84mm. Save yourself a massive headache and swap axle shafts when retrofitting an elocker to an early housing. Its a paint in the a hole, but its not that much more work if you need new bearings anways and build one of these http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/rear_axle/wheel_bearing/

Naa not at all, I paid $15 from u pull it on half price day. It is definately worth it for the insurance, I know several people who broke side gears and it costs a chunk of change to fix.

Just uploaded my pictures, had a hell of a day wheelin.. First off leaving the gas station my runner starts to run like dog :pokinit: for about 5 minutes, then ran great all day.. ? I dont know, not gonna ask any questions.. We ran terminator first as always and blew right through it and drank a few beers, then ran judgment day which none of us have ever been down. Fun trail in my truck, everyone else was bored haha. Its a long, rough, narrow trail with a few cool spots. One decent waterfall that everyone walked up and a cool tippy buggy line that one of our buddies did. After that everyone wanted to run annocanda, but I like having widows so I parked at the top and walked down to watch. everyone made it past the first chute but we stuck around to watch a kid in a near stock tacoma try it. Amazingly he hardly got body damage, and made it up with no front locker! crazy.. So tacoma guy and 2 buggys get behind us and we start to move and stop. Eric broke a rear driveshaft on a rock. We took the 2 halfs off, spent an hour hi lifting and tuggin gettin it up over the rock it was hi centerd on and were moving again, eric with fwd.. Neil tugged him about 100 ft up the trail and snap! breaks the lockrite, shears off all hub studs on the driver side, and the passenger front goes flat. There is no way to get a truck out without at least 2wd, so we went up and snagged the front shaft off of my truck(24 inches of slip, works front or rear). Got back to the bottom, flange pattern is different... We got 2 bolts in it, fixed the tire, stopped twice to air it up, and pulled it up the 1st exit.. 15 minute trail took us 5 hours.

whoa driveshaft

anything wrong with this picture? See previous picture for a clue..

It can be a pain, check out this link for some options. http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/rear_axle/wheel_bearing/

I made a tool for my press out of an axle tube half. Works great!

The ground pound method makes your hands numb for 2-3 days if you do it right.

Shipping should be 20-30 for 3 shafts id imagine.
