Ac makes building in the summer easier. Thats why i build my stuff at my parents, that and the lift beats doin :pokinit: with jack stands. But the $400 electric bills in the summer blow hard.

Definately, my garage is so small its not hard to cool. Ive been doin most of my stuff lately at a buddies shop with the lift and bender, makes me extremely jealous!

Terminator is 30 miles north of Phx NE of lake pleasant, crown king starts on the north entrance to the lake and heads up the west side of the bradshaw mountains. Then you take the senator highway down the east side of the bradshaws and come out the bumblebee exit to I17. Lots of cool stuff up in those mountains

Thanks man. Yeah, weve got some good wheelin out here. They are slowly closing or destroying trails though, and its starting to show.  My friend Neil with the yota truggy is from york Pa, his 2 friends are from another small town up there. They sure liked the weather out here haha

It looks like someone fixed the really bad washouts with shovels, but it definately got worse. There are a few more fun spots and a few scary spots on the shelfs. Lots of rocks breaking loose in the higher elevations and landing in the trail. Make it a lot more exciting!

Ive done a lot of work on the skinner since I posted up last. Ill have to see if i can dig up some pictures...

Once temps starting hitting the 100's I decided I wanted the best damn a/c any 1st get runner has ever had, and I think im pretty close to that now. One of my valves was loose, so the r12 leaked out and I started looking into 134a converstions and ran across es12a. Its a propane based refridgerant and i would say it cools 20-30% better than r12.

My a/c compressor was replaced with a new denso unit a week before I got my runner, so thats the only part of the system that stayed. I flushed the system, replaced all of the o rings, expansion valve, and accumulator, vac'd the system down for an hour then charged it on the first warm day. I was having issues with charge pressures climbing at first, but soon found out it was due to lack of airflow across the condenser. I got it charged pretty good and had great ac while driving, but at idle my vent temp would climb into the 70's. Not good enough...

So, I decided to ditch my non working fan clutch and install the 2 speed volvo e fan I picked out. A buddy of mine made me a nice 1/8th aluminum shroud for a good price, so the conversion was damn easy...

My truck had a tow package, so there is a 16mm threaded bung in the tstat housing with a 225* temp sensor (shuts the ac off automatically if the truck starts to overheat)that was pretty easy top tap out to 3/8ths npt and put a thermostatic fan switch in. I went with a hypertech chevy sensor, 200 degrees on 185 off for the low speed controller (low speed moves plents of air to keep things cool).  I made my own fan controller with a pregnant dogin toyota dash switch with indicator light(once a deck lamp switch) and a few relays. I have an on/off switch to shut the whole system down (for deep water crossings) and the indicator light is wired to come on only when the fan is running. I hooked the high speed up to my a/c compressor clutch so whenever my a/c is on, the fan is running. This setup works amazingly good... For example, it was 113 the other day and I had no problem pulling 38 degree air out of the vents. The dynamat stuff REALLY seems to do a good job of keeping heat out as well.

The biggest bonus the hp increase for getting rid of the clutch fan, and es12a runs at lower pressures than r12 or 134a so my a/c doesnt drain all of the 22r thunder. Now with the a/c on, it has more power than before with the ac off.

I got tired of carrying a 35in spare in the back of the truck, so I hacked up my rear bumper and started on a swingout tire carrier. Im using a 4wheelersupply spindle kit (beef), a nissan pathfinder 2 stage latch, and 1.75 120 wall dom.

I switched to a shorter front shackle, since I had no reason to run the boomerang shacled anymore and my truck looked kinda ass saggy again.

After a few months of run time, I decided that irok radials are turds. Sold my 37's and went back to 35in km2's. scored a set of 5 like new on wheels for $450 and my old ballin 17's. Km2s blow iroks away in every situation but snow.. a 35 km2 at 30lbs works better in the rocks than a 37 isuk at 7psi... For the record, this is the 7th tire and wheel combo to go on the runner... lol

Original plan was not to go back to 35's, but to do 37 km2s and properly backspaced wheels. Well, every place is backorderd on 17x8 steel wheel shells so that plan was shot... Allied's estimate was 2-3 months before they would get them in. I already Bought the 37 km2's, so theyre lookin pretty in my garage right now. I think its for the better, as here is where logic has completely gone out the window, and this build begins retardation of the next level...

Im tired of leaf springs, axle wrap, wheels spacers, deep backspaced wheels, crappy ride quality on rough roads, and mini axle steering and trunion bearing problems.. I found a non elocker abs knuckle fj80 front axle for practically free... I already have a full floater disc brake rear soooo.... after the 3rz swap and new fuel tank behind the rear axle, this thing will be getting a 3 link front and fzj80 axles.  :hammerhead:
