They are firm but comforatable.  Have not taken long ride yet but they have a bit of built in recline which seems perfect to me, but if you wanted more you could use washers to raise the front mounts up a bit.

I like them so far, I am def impressed for the price.

I will let you know...it shouldn't get too much torque since it is before the axle reduction...I still have to finish the rest of it though...TOO MUCH TO DO!

good idea on the lowes boxes..

my wife works there so I got 4 of them but I hate having to zip tie the top down when stuffing it full. Maybe i'll go buy some cheap-o latchs and screw 'em in.

Yeah, they were like $5 a piece, they are pretty sturdy, nickel plated so they shouldn't rust...too fast.
It is just the right size too.  I looked but I could not find any tool boxes shallow enough to fit and still allow me room for gear and the spare tire carrier.

Knew I needed some more support for the rear bumper so I got that finished off and then started welding on the tire cradle.  Ran outta wire just as I was running outta light...figured that meant it was a good stopping point.

Got that pesky half shaft cut in half and made a slice of the square tube I am going to mate it to so I could trace it on the round and unround it.  Got it pretty good and unround.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

Yes, there was a big thread about it maybe 3 weeks ago on Pirate4x4...I needed a driveshaft for MCR cause the one I have is too long until I move the axle foreward (upcoming mod).  This should werk perfect for now and should be a great spare if it holds up.  I will carry the longish one as a spare for MCR.

Yes, it sucked getting it lined up.  I actually think it isn't perfectly str8.  I am going to bolt it in and see how bad it is out of balance this weekend.  I also don't know how much that cv joint can make up for things being a little off.  Maybe it will help, maybe it won't matter.  We shall see.  The lower section with the U-joint was very easy to line up in comparison.

it should be able to handle it better than a ujoint, having the third axis and all.

That is what I am hoping, and it doesn't have to go too fast anyway.
