v8's are just a waste in a toyota.... what would you ever use the power for??? not to mention they are gas guzzelers and just a pregnant dog to keep running right especially with a carb motor... my opinion is v8's are good for nothing.... a 3.4l 5vz-fe is the way to go if your lookin for power and they run forever and ya never have to tinker with them like a v8.... have you ever owned a rig with a v8?

ya I am trying to work my way through the 89 harness.. I have had no luck finding a schematic for any of it except a pin-out for the back of the gauge cluster so if nothing else I will bust out the trusty voltmeter and start running continuity checks between the gauges and the plugs for the ecu so then I can get the gauges up and running.... thats about all I have left to get figured out and I can start soldering wired together... I snapped a few pics of what I am up against you can see how the previous owner has cut the stock harness where it goes to the under-hood fuse and relay boxes so this leaves me to figure out whats what here as well so this is gonna be a real pain in my  :moon:

here is what I have to work with on the 89 harness after some jackass chopped all kinds of things off...
this is on the passenger side of the truck in the engine bay

this is on the driver side engine bay

then a few random pics of what I have been doing the last couple nights getting things figured out and labeled so I can start hooking :pokinit: up finally and hear this thing run finally...

this is the tacoma engine bay fuse/relay box that I need to figure out how to wire in to the 89 harness...

now that the tranny and t-cases are pushed up flat belly I am kind of wishing I would have raised the motor mounts some more.... I am still trying to decide if I want to lift it by modifying the engine side motor mount... I do not wanna cut the mounts back off the frame cause its a pain in my  :moon: the motor is a little more tilted forward than I wanted it but we will see...

you have way to much patience w/ wiring i wouldnt be able to do that :hahaha:
ya thats what I do for a living but in a much larger scale of what I am doing on this swap (class A motorhome tech).... so this is all pretty easy but very time consuming as well...

ok so I have been slackin (and fishing) the last couple days so I havent got a whole lot done to the truck.... I did start getting the wiring harness assembled on the engine side of things... the only thing I am still waiting on is figure out where I tap into my gauge wires on the 3rd gen side of the harness other than that I think I have most of it figured out and I should be able to get it done this weekend sometime hopefully... I am gonna get all the final welding taken care of on the truck tonight and get the frame cleaned up and painted so thats out of the way.... I need to get my tubing bender ordered so I can get the exo built and have somewhere to mount the radiator and all other under-hood components..... so thats next....
