Well we now have concrete in our footers, and today they were forming up the ARXX foundation walls, which will be filled with concrete later in the week.

Updated pics at the house photobucket: http://photobucket.com/brianandjansnewhouse

FOAMIES

:yesnod:   They're called ARXX walls and they have a WAY better R value than your pre-fab walls (Superior Walls, etc.).  They're solid poured concrete, poured right on site, with insulation on both sides.  Not that it's going to matter much because they'll be underground for the most part.

:yesnod:   Yep, they had to put rebar in there all sorts of ways.  They make entire houses out of this stuff!  Not mine though, because it's REALLY expensive.  LOL.

when my dad was a contractor he worked witht this stuff. i always just thought they were giant legos or something. which is made it super awesome to me being a little kid. i used to take some while he was working and build a mini fort with it off to the side of the house... good times... but i think at the time you could go up to 2 stories tall with it... :dunno: then it would be reinforced with rebar inside then filled with concrete.

:yesnod:   yessirreee....they build entire houses, barns, stores....anything out of this stuff.  It's got a super high R value and is very sound proof, and can withstand 200mph winds I think it said.

Yep it's getting pretty cool watching things come together.  The porta-potty is LOVELY as well.  haha.  They keep it very clean and it smells nice and is always stocked with TP.

We need to get a LOT of the shale hauled out of there when it's all over with, so we have a bigger flat spot.  We will be preserving a "road" to get up to our land that's out back though.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

I built a 8000 sq ft house out here in ca out of those forms, they were made by amvic.  The guy we built it for moved here from the east coast.  He said alot of the stuff built over there is out of these.  I like em, alot of rebar though.  How much is the house going to cost you guys?  Just curious in the prices for houses over there?
Looks good though!

haha.....thanks for the updates Mini    I don't like to get too carried away with the pics in the thread due to people with dial-up, so I just figure I'll post important progress and direct them to the photobucket :dunno:

Stinking inspections are tying everything up...grrrrrr.  Seems like everything needs inspected, and then the inspector is only in our area on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Last week was pretty much worthless because we were waiting on the inspector, who couldn't make it til Thursday, but then on Thursday his wife got sick and he had to take her to the hospital.  So now he's supposed to come tomorrow.  He'll inspect the foundation walls and the plumbing that was laid, and then we can pour the basement floor and GET ON WITH IT!  hahaha
