Have y'all thought about setting a camera up on the hill and taking a picture from the same place at the end of every day? That makes a nice journal.

That's a cool idea.

I think they should set up the TacoCAM so we can just look in at any time and see what is going on in TacoLand

OK folks.....today was the day!  After a last-minute change in excavators which turned out to be a blessing in disguise....

:hyper:   We Finally Broke Ground Today!!   :hyper:

It even rained all day, bless the poor man's heart, but this new excavator is a real go-getter!!  I'm his biggest fan!  hahaha.   He mainly pushed in the old foundation and covered it over and basically just started pushing stuff around to start making a nice level slate.

I think tomorrow he might start digging the actual house footers.

I was going to have a big official ground breaking ceremony, but with the rain today I didn't figure anyone would do anything!  hahaha.  But it's quite alright.  I'm thrilled!!

Doooooooooooooooooooooode!

Today we were at the land watching the guys dig the trench for the underground electric.  We were there most of the day and I think ALL of the neighbors stopped in at one point or another.  It was nice!

But HOW ABOUT......the guy we bought the land off of (who is also a neighbor) walked up and handed me.....two of the original deeds to the property (including the house!) dated back to 1889!!  And written in the one from 1889 it says that the time it was transferred before that was 1883!

Check them out!  I only scanned the fronts....they are SO COOL:

Holy crapolli, does that say they land went for $265?? Of course that was a lot in 1889 but that is so cool

And what Unc said.

I looked at them pretty closely and it appears that the notation on the front of the one means that it cost $2.65 to record the deed, because the name signed there is the Justice of the Peace who signed on the inside and appeared to have been some sort of Notary Public at the time.

The 1889 deed says the property was transferred for $300, and then in 1921 it was transferred for $350

And I guess you need to understand the situation and/or our small town.  Everyone involved in the project, we're all good friends and/or related.  And actually part of their bid assumed that we would be helping as much as possible.  Plus we bring them beer.

Actually we didn't even know they were going to do anything today.  We got up and went out there so Brian could cut down some trees that were in the way, and the excavator happened to drive by and stopped in to shoot the bull with us, and then he got motivated to do some work since we were there to help.
