   We're very touched that Joe has taken such a personal interest in Taco Palace.  He surely WILL be one of our VIPs.

So today they finished up the roof lines on the front of the house, got the fireplace framed in, and cleaned off the patio because the rubber "membrane" that they have to lay down under the decking there is coming tomorrow.  As are the shingles, doors, and windows!  They plan to get LOTS done tomorrow, and Brian and I are both off work to help!  :hyper:

I don't know if I've mentioned it yet, but the big hole in the center of the front of the house is where the front door will go.  They have to build the front porch up so it's level with that opening.

And then this will be a direct-vent gas fireplace, and we're going to get a big flat panel TV to hang above it
RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:

:hyper:   I'm so excited!

Friday was my birthday so I (of course...haha) took off work, and Brian and I helped work on the house all day!  We got shingles and they started shingling, and we got some windows and doors and got those hung, it was great!

Here you can see my stepdad's partner Dan up on the roof starting the shingling...front door and the window above the jacuzzi tub in the master bath are in:

I think we're getting the rest of the windows on Wednesday.  They'll do more shingling today and probably finish up tomorrow, and maybe even build up the front porch!
RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:

Hey Nick!   You know you can come up any old time, we won't even make ya work!  haha

Doesn't seem like a lot has changed lately.  The front windows were on back order for a couple of weeks and that drove me nuts, but they're finally in.  They've gotten a lot of work done on the inside like duct work and geothermal setup.  Front porch was built and concrete poured on it, and the roofs built over it and the stairs (I didn't want any uncovered stairs).

At first I wasn't feeling the roof over the stairs but I think it'll all come together nicely once the railings and permanent posts are put up.  The posts holding it up right now aren't permanent and they look ducky to me.  But there will be stone level with the porch the whole way across the front of the house and on all 3 sides of the porch, and then there will be a cedar-shake-look vinyl siding on the fronts of those bumpouts.  I think it'll come together nicely.

MY TUB!  I'm so excited:

The electrician came last Saturday and marked off all of the receptacles and stuff like that.  That was fun.  I think he's starting sometime next week.  They still need to finish building in those 4 front windows, and then they'll put on temporary locks and we'll officially be sealed up!

Here's the current view:

OK, here's the view of the patio!  We need to work on the view out back...still not sure yet what we're going to do about the shale bank.  We need to see what it looks like after ALL of the excavating is over and done with, etc.  But for now, it's private, and that's good enough for me!  haha

:hyper:  Yeah and it's not even done yet!  haha.  Those knee-wall thingies will be built in with receptacles going around the place, and then the rest will be screened in.  The ceiling of it will be that soffit stuff, and then we'll have two ceiling fans out there.  Oh and of course, it will be wired for phone and cable.

Seems like it's been pretty sllooooooow going lately.  The electrician has us held up, but they did start the siding the other day.  Doing more today I guess.

And Glen you do know it's just going to be a gas fireplace insert, right?

Yep, the same kind of stone that we're putting on the front of the house (see Reply 248).  There will be a big wooden mantel, and we're only doing the stone up to the mantel.  From the mantel up will just be drywall because we're going to hang a flat panel TV above it.
