well i did not know that. Did you try swapping out the whole cluster?

I thought about it, but just decided I wanted to get a nice aftermarket guage.  :yesnod:

yes. every gauge you buy aftermarket will require it's own sending unit.

Sweet, thank you.   I'm gonna go and look for the one you suggested.

I have an idea of where I could mount them.   It would just take a little welding.   I know, that sounds funny.  I'll post up a pic later.

I like the look of after market gauges, but dont like the fact that you then have a useless dash and gauges else where in your truck.

Here is a web site to a guy that makes the gauge pillars to fit two or three guages.  They're not cheap but it might work out better.   :dunno:

Good to hear she is running good. Hopefully you wont have any more problems.

That A pillar gauge pods set up looks like a good option.

Couple Teeny problems.

Thermostat housing dribbles a little bit of fluid, not enough to run down the side, but just enough to leak onto the manifold and turn to jelly.

It would appear that a dribble of oil is comming out of my main pully bolt.  Not sure how that could happen, but since the pully front is bright red pretty easy to see.  the back of the pully is completly dry.   :headscratch:

A faint mist of oil under my dizzy?  Hmm I used a new seal, perhaps my dizzy isn't so tight anymore.

all in all, still good.

200.

I re torqued the main bolt, but still no good.   probably change the seal this weekend.   Its not much.  just enough to F with me.

If it's leaking from around the bolt only, don't remove the balancer and don't change the seal  :nonono:. Remove the bolt and clean the oil from the balancer and crank snout. Use blue loctite on the washer surface where it meets the balancer face and bolt head and/or put a dab of sealer on the nose of the crankshaft to seal between the shaft and the balancer. Then reinstall the bolt. The blue loctite will make a seal that the oil can't get past.   I do this with diff flanges and the like during final assembly. I have yet for one to leak.  :crossed:  :disturbed: Plus the blue loctite isn't hard to remove.

The reason it will leak there is because oil will "wick" between the back edge of the balancer and the crankshaft and make it's way to the bolt (especially through the keyway) and then past the washer and out where you can see it.   :wall:

Wermz84

Awesome, thanks for the explanation!  I will try that next.

OK so I searched and cannot find what i'm looking for.  But does anybody know what the water temp sending unit thread pitch and size is?     :dunno:

there are 3 different options for the vdo guages and I don't want to pull anything apart to drill and tap.   should have thought about this sooner.    :hammerhead:

while i'm on this subject:

Oil pressure sending unit thread size.

It was doing just what you said.   We'll see how that holds.   :crossed:  and thanks again.

This morning I will check the valve lash and just go over all the bolts.    I tried to finish yesterday but had to go visit my friend that wrecked on her bike at Hollister.
