Update (12/01/07):

Got my dual cases in  :drooling:

Havnt finished modifying the center console and I am still waiting on my rear driveline from the driveline shop, but I have my front square shaft made and I am running a loaner rear. Also trimmed my front fenders. Havnt done the rear yet but next week I hope to have it finished. I didnt want to get rid of the rear heater (passengers love me during snow season) so I have to trim a lot out of it and move the rear window and rear whiper switches somewhere else.

Whoooo!  :woohoo:

With the SR5 do you have 2 or 3 switches on the console? :dunno: If you only have 2, just move one over. ;)

I only have two switches, but my center console seems different than yours. My "cubby" is only about 1.5"-2" deep. Mine also has less room right there it seems. You dont have a rear heater do you? I think that might make a bit of a difference. I know you have been running yours like that for a long time. It just seemed to me yesterday while trying it out, that with flex and drivetrain movement your set up might cause it to accidently knock it out of gear. I have to reverse my front case's shifter because it sometimes gets knocked out of gear while in reverse. I guess I will see when I get there. For some reason it just looks like the black area forward of your brown console is a lot roomier than mine.  :headscratch: could very well be a sr5 to nonsr5 difference. I will let you know what I end up doing.

Got to test out the dual cases this weekend. Un-freakin-believable. The years of waiting have finally paid off! No words can describe how much fun I had trying them out. Still getting used to all the gears and what works best for what but I have a pretty good handle of things now. Just need to get a locker (SOON!!!!).

Here are some pics I took from the Greenhorn Clean up last Sunday (dec 2nd). For more pictures check out the thread linked in my signature:

My friends Wade and Adam and their trucks loaded with metal and other garbage:

Some b*std left their torched IFS out there  :shake: This was just one of about 4 seperate piles of metal I collected from just ONE area. Probably 4-5 beds, matreses, chairs, bench seats, and dozens of other random items:

End of the day, Luke Porter (4x4 Labs) comes lumbering up in his 69 Osh Kosh 6x6 dumptruck. What a beast!! He was hauling some trees across Greenhorn to our friend's house on the other side of the creek.

Yeah it was actually in one of the many remains of a campfire. Looks like someone brought it out to say good bye once and for all to IFS by burning it lol

Probably the funniest thing I found out there

Trying to find something cheap, aussie or lockrite most likely.

pff... lockers are over rated.

I'm planning on gettin' the 4.70 transfercase gear set before a locker, that way maybe my new clutch will last longer then the last one.

Yeah I already have the  :turtle: 4.7s in my rear case. Even with a single case it was a huge advantage. I really do need a locker though, I am tired of this OPEN BS :D

Yeah, I used to have a limited slip in the back and even that was a big improvement over open. I swapped my 85 rear for a 89 V6 rear with 5.29s but it was open. No worries, i will have one soon enough.

Also, I took some measurements tonight and it looks like the way Shoyrtt cut his center console is going to work perfectly. I plan on replicating what he did to try and keep as much factory trim as possible. I'll post some pics when its done.

I found a couple more shots from the Greenhorn clean up. That is my buddy Taylor's rig (Brandon's little bro). He took most of the running gear out of his brothers rig (RIP) and transplanted it into his 4runner.

The Aussie is fairly cheap. Its a little noisy turning on the street, but I have been happy with mine. :D

One thing to consider if you are keeping as much factory trim as possible is that with my set up I have to slightly lift the console lid to shift from 2WD to H4WD. I could probably heat and bend the shifter a bit for it to clear, but I just got used to it over time. ;)

Ahhh, yea as I delve into it I will see what happens. If that is all I have to deal with then, no biggie. I Just want it to look as close to "factory" as possible.

Went wheeling at Greenhorn today with Justin (Just2Much19) and his friends. We actually had a lot of carnage. First, my rear tcase flange sliced a hole in a coolant line for my rear heater. After we patched that up, one of Justin's friend Kevin had some alternator issues. Lasty Glen busted his D44 front axle shaft in his Blazer. Otherwise we had quite a run, we spent more time wrenching than wheeling but Greenhorn in the wet season is pretty tough and unforgiving.

Here are some shots of the chopped fenders. I wanted to run 37s for my next set of tires, so we chopped em accordingly. I am going to put bedliner on the front fenders too just havnt gotten around to it.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Also here is a picture of how I trimmed my center console for the duals. If anyone needs an idea for their 4runner this is a good way to do it. Thanks to Shoyrtt for the idea!

I was getting really pissed off yesterday wheeling open diffs. I need a locker. BAD.  :smack:
