did some more work on the bed. I decided to wire brush the welds that the previous owner of the bed made.  This is what I found...

Thats what was holding my bed on... I decided to grind the rest of the way down the side, and its booger welded like crazy, but its there, just under 1/2 in of bondo.  I will not be replacing the bondo, since I want to go tube bed later, and I really don't care what this one looks like.

For now I think I am going to cut some small scraps of metal and reinforce that seam so I don't have to worry if I load something heave on the tail-gate.

Got some more work done...
I put this little piece of scrap on top of the bead to help the weld out.

Got some priming done.

Then I went and picked up some

:woohoo:

However they WERE mounted on some jeep wheels... So thos had to go!

Not the best way to unmount a tire, but its free, and it works. And just a FYI, dish soap works wonders as a lube!
I am hoping to spray black tonight. I took a half day at work because of finals, I plan on finishing early so that I can work on my truck  :eyebrow:

A little more on the un-mounting (these are my new rims).

Here is how we broke the bead, VERY easy.

Please note that hollywood is NOT wearing flip flops in these pics! he saw the camera and got some shoes so he would't be "that guy"  :hahaha:  Thanks for the help bro!

Anyway, I got some more spraying done. I think this paint is the sexiest paint ever!

than we played with the dogs!

And thats probley it till this weekend. School gets out thursday at 9pm :shake:, and have a friends graduation party to hit friday night (free beer! :beerchug:  :yesnod:) so nothing will get done till saturday. the first thing that I would like to get done is re-gearing my rear diff so that I can drive the pregnant dog around!  Also I would like to get my air tank mounted before I out put the axle back in, so that way its easier to get mounted.

So, i gave my last speech today, that was a load off.  Than I started thinking about what I have left to do.  I would like to have it done by memorial day weekend, for some test running.

     *Install air tank
     *Finish rear suspension
     *Gear rear diff
*Do an SAS! (axle is complete, and I will assemble after it is on the truck)
*Order bead locks (on the 15th)
     *Prep and paint wheels
     *Prep and weld bead locks
*Prep and paint wheels+bead locks, and bead lock plates.
     *Mount and balance tires

Now I would like to get all this done before the 23rd of May... However, this Sunday I am helping a friend from work clear some brush from his mountain home in anticipation of fire season, this will kill half a day.  My dad is having surgery to remove and replace his hip and femur, because of cancer, tomorrow (Thursday), so I will be at his place allot to help take care of him.  Than on Thursday of next week, I am getting lasik eye surgery ( :disturbed: :woohoo:  :disturbed:), which means that I can't do anything to intense that weekend. However I am out of school, and will be working on the turck every night after work starting next monday!
Should be lots of big updates soon!

Alright. I drove to denver to take over being in the hospital with my dad. He is PASSED OUT! but they have free net so I figured I would post some pics of this morning!  Oh, and my dad just got his new nurse for the night, and he is gunna be really happy when he wakes up! :yesnod:  Anyway on to the progress. I spent my friday night at work till 9pm re-gearing my diff.

This is my diff stud eliminator.  I got sick of my nuts coming loose  :shocking: so I put top lock nuts on the studs, after the diff was installed.  BTW TG's stud eliminator kit is WAY over priced.  If your interested let me know and I can get you the same thing for way cheaper!

Then I got my air tank installed.

Than the axle went in

Than I got to drive it for the first time in WEEKS!

But now its time to fix the hooptie!

So I had to bust out the sprayer, hopefully for the last time on this build!

Thats my steering and my new rims, before the bead locks. Here they are done.

And my sweet bling bling new rims!

And a few weeks ago I picked this up to help with the cutting of the IFS.

Cuts threw 1/4in plate like its butter. I am sure that it will cut thicker too. anyway

Got most of the grinding done too!

Thanks to Hollywood for all they awesome help!

Just cruising by, and I thought I'd offer my two cents for ya. Take it for what it cost ya - nothing!

I just installed a beadlock kit, and I have a few things to point out about the Rockstomper kit. If you need more width on the rims, I guess welding them on top of the lip works. However, from a welding stand point, this appears to be less material to get to. I had a kit that fit inside the lip, and grinding, I would think would be easier as well as welding - standing above it as opposed to rolling it around. I guess that might not matter much because you weld in small strips. Also, these kits are a lot more than the going rate seems to be. $80 / kit is kinda pricey. That doesn't include an anti-cone ring, either, and you may want to check into that.

I'll recommend the kit I have because it was easy to install and seems to be pretty darn tough to beat for the price. Tennessee Offroad makes the kit, and you can find more info here - http://bb.tennesseeoffroad.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=015924#000000 Hopefully my post makes sense, and if you've already ordered no big deal. I'm just hoping to save ya some coin and possibly recommend what I think to be a better product.

Good luck with your shackle angle, though. I'd be pissed too!!!  :tantrum:

I'm guessing you already welded the shackle tubes in completly? If not I suggest leaving the hanger and moving the shackle tubes forward.

YOU AND YOUR SPRINGS ALL PRO!!!!

From the picture on All-pro's set up instructions, it looks like you put the shackle hanger in the wrong place.

The rear shackle hanger is a tube that is welded into the frame. In order to properly place the tubes in the proper place special jigs are provided in the kit. Install the right jig on the passenger side and the left jig on the drivers side of the truck. The jig should be placed onto the frame and slid forward until it is stopped by the body mount. The center of the hole in the jig should be aprox 45" from the front of the frame. Tack weld the jigs in place and then drill a 1 3/4" hole through the frame with a hole saw or torch. Insert the tubes into the frame. The tubes should be placed so that the are offset to the outside of the frame by 1/4". Tack weld the tubes in place for now.

Using the supplied bushings, shackles and bolts mount the leaf springs. Once satisfactory shackle angle has been verified finish welding the front spring hanger and tubes into place. The shackle jigs can be removed or welded into place with the tubes.

Okay, that makes no sene  :shake:  so they're NOT set up correctly because they're not Marlin or TG springs.

ok pay attention...  we step them up to marlin and trail gear specs, not knowing that all poops springs were shorter, so in that aspect it is set up right... BUT all poops springs are shorter and the frame tubes need to be moved forward, we now know this, but it is to late, that is the it is not set up correctly part.  it really does make sense, REALLY!!!!

hollywood_toy90

mines settled and are at just about the right angle, they are still a little steep, but not to bad.  once his springs settle it should be pretty close.
