The star pattern didn't help much. However moving up t0 12ft-lbs work very well for sealing the bead.

They are all holding air now. How long they will hold that air, only time will tell, but none went flat since about noon, and all seem to be close to the same pressure (I didn't set them to a certain pressure, so I cant check to see if they are lower.

Front diff is in and the drive shaft is installed.  Tomorrow knuckle building begins!

Well, two have been holding air all day. (30psi to be exact, 10 over what rockstomper recommends)  The other two dropped from 30 to 25.  I found the leeks, and did the silicone trick, hopping that I don't have to grind and weld MORE.

And it works well!

Some posers

Cool, good to see it on the trail. How do you like those Baja claws? I have been considering getting some but I was curious how they do in the rocks.

OnTheRocks had them on his after he SAS'd and he didnt like them in snow i know that... and i think he said they sucked in wet rocks too.
he may have been running at higher PSI though.... but dont quote me on that, because it was a long while ago... :twocents:

All the pics I saw of his truck with the claws looked like they were pretty bald too, hard to tell in pics but they didnt look like they had much life left.

nice truck, I like that green! What body lift are you running?
Dunno if it's the right idea, but have you considered shooting some slime in to seal up the beadlocks?

Dunno if it's the right idea, but have you considered shooting some slime in to seal up the beadlocks?

I considered only breifly, and here is why.  Tire slime is designed to be poured thru the valve stem. Soon after that the tire needs to be spun so the rotation of the tire flings the slime outward.  My beads are leaking, not the tread.  However, on my last wheeling adventure there was a muddy spot, and the mud made it into the rim, and left a nice even coat around the welded area, this stoped my leak!. so maybe I will have to take it to the car wash, and than put slime on the outside, however the won't work either since the pressure of the tire is forcing through the hole, and will most likly keep the slime out.  I have considered using some sort of epoxy to do the same job, but that would mean that I would need to set it up and than get on the high way and drive almost a whole tank in order to get it to set.
PZ

EDIT: I am running a 1in sky body lift. Not to gain clearance for tires, but for my fatty hands above the tranny and t-case!

Went wheelin last week. Went to Kelly flats for any of the colorado folk who may know where that is.  Pretty easy trail, except for the chutes.

Started with camping thursday night!, this was a "Dudes and Dogs run" so the ladies stayed at home ;)

Than friday morning we hit the trail not knowing what to expect. We knew the two most challenging obstacles were Heart attack hill (easy line was a joke, and other lines were not to bad in a long wheel base)

Me half way up

My buddy Zach in his heep

Hollywood

than we got to the chutes. Not fearing body damage on my bed, I was the only one who attempted.

A shot of me coming up the the chutes, from on top of the ledge.

Got a little close to the cab! But it never hit!

In the end I was denied! Zach pulled me right out tho!

Than we had to get zach out. He could not back up because of the slick muddy conditions.  He winched himself sideways, away from the rocks, and than back up the trail.

Than it was my turn to hit the second part of the chutes!

I had to get high lifted over because of the rock in the front of me. I need to get my front locker going soon!

yeah, we had allot of fun with long exposures, Zach is an excellent photographer.

As for my truck. There are several things that I need to get done, and that I straight up don't like.

First I needed bump stops up front. My shocks were bottoming out before something else limited the suspension.  However I got that done tonight!

Something else that was bothering me was my steering wheel being perfectly upside down, fixed that.

Got my CB in and working, just need a new antenna. (My GF drove my truck thru a parking garage when it was maybe 2 degrees out, needless to say that antenna is gone!)

Now on to the things that I don't like.
NUMBER 1! My steering!  It drives great, but the pitman arm interferes with the drag link pretty bad.  The steering box needs to be moved forward!

NUMBER 2! My steering/shocks!  I have the marlin gusset kit, and I welded the small tube to the wrong side of the gusset, which means that the steering arms hit the shock bodies at full steer. To fix this I have my steering stops set WAY to far out. :smack: :smack: :smack:

number 3 is my shackle angle. Its not the best, but I wish it was better.  When I relocate my box forward, I think I am going to make a set of rears up front.

And yeah, the bad...

Its hits about .5in before my bump-stop even touches the plate!

So you werent able to flex it fully in those pics? Looks like you might have to move that steering box forward a couple inches

Yes, this is what I am trying to point out.  I want to make a rear leaf pack for the front, and move it then.  The more I think about it, the sooner I want to do it!
