Then again if you wanna avoid Icehouse and KOA all together you can go in through Georgetown and it's all gradual climbing :dunno: I couldn't give you directions, but I'm sure a ton of people on here could.

I do have Google Earth, so your saying its a steep windy road.   I meant from the pic that it was fairly wide with a good shoulder. going slow will be a given and his truck will probably beat me up there  :talkingn:

It widens once you get to the top... but it's quite narrow going up the steeper part of the incline.

If I remember correctly they do have logging trucks that use that road so I would say it is wide enough, although I don't remember offhand.
I just didn't know if you knew what type of climb it was and thought is flat like that picture.

That would be Wentworth Springs Rd. wouldn't it FFC?
Where you see Icehouse veer off to the left in the second picture, which is the continuation of the first, is where it meets with Wentworth Springs Rd. You have to scroll in really close in the program to see where Icehouse goes up to the right towards Loon.

Mark said he wouldn't risk blowing out the tranny in the motorhome going up that road. It was all we could do to do 20 mph in the Mammoth last year.

The only Wentworth Springs I know of is beyond the turn off to Loon... :dunno: bout 32 miles in from hwy 50

According to Google Earth Wentworth Spgs. Road and Icehouse Rd. fork off coming from Loon Lake back down the roads.
Kyota, if you want to PM me your email I can send you the google earth file, I have the KOA, Icehouse, Loon, Spider Lake and the Springs all mapped out on it.
I haven't figured out how you get the URL for it, if you can even do that, but I thought I had seen it somewhere else.

It shows Wentworth Springs Rd. goes from Hwy 193 at 2626' to the fork of Icehouse Rd. at 5422' so that is a little less of a severe climb, but you would still have to go from the lower elevation of Hwy. 50, if you come from that direction to the elevation at 193 & Wentworth, so it's all relative. You have to get up there somehow.

I don't know where Robb's is in relation to the intersection of Icehouse and Wentworth.

Robbs is just south of the Icehouse / Wentworth intersection and its 8 miles from Robbs to trailhead. Wentworth is looking better and it would be better for us to come in that way off 80 anyway so we can stop in with friendsin Penryn.  So lets try this again , can a small tractor (think Intl CXT) with a 35 ft enclosed trailer do Wentworth springs easily to Robbs?

Although  we could think about parking the LBC at the KOA on Thur., that's still a definate for us, and riding up to Robbs Thur. night and tent camp there, we wouldn't have to get up so early to get to the trailhead early.
But that's going to depend on picking up UncJ and maybe Bubba and what everyone else is up for doing on Thur. then. We'll ahve to play that one by ear, I think.

Kyota, I would think you could get that rig and trailer up Ice house   I'm going up there in a few weeks, so I'll take some pictures of the road for you, but I would probably do it

so you're going to take the semi and your truck and trailer up Ice House Rd.? We can't take the motorhome up there, it'll be too steep for us. I guess they do have logging trucks or something on that road too though.

Your motorhome should be fine on Ice House, we've taken ours through there. It's slow going but scary for some, especially coming down.

That's OK. We'll feel more comfortable with it holed up at the KOA.

I would do it.  take the turns slow because some of them jump out at you.  but it should be fine.
