BD,what all does UncJ need to bring with him?
I already advised him that it will be pretty cold at the springs, so dress for winter weather. But it will probably be in the 70-80's in the Sac area? So dress for that too. :disturbed:
You have a tent for him? What about a sleeping bag?
I'll bring as much food and drinks as I can cram in our cooler.
What else?

Bring a warm jacket, some hoodies and jeans.  I think jeans are reasonably warm enough.  Maybe a pair if shorts just in case we get a warm afternoon.  I don't have any extra sleepin bags but I got a tent I can bring

It all depends on how well you handle cold. It got below freezing the second night we were there, and even with the first night there is no way I could tolerate it without thermals and insulated coveralls.
I've been in FL too long, but UncJ is from NJ so it all depends on what he is comfortable with.
I don't think we have extra sleeping bags either. I'll look.
A hat is essential in warding off the cold, we lose 90% of our heat out of the top of our heads. You want to stay warm in your tent? Sleep with a toque on.

I'm still waiting to find out if my friend Chris can get leave the 8th.  :dunno: If he gets leave, we will be heading out of town early Friday morning, possibly Thursday night around 9 or 10 pm. He's stationed in 29 Palms.

If he doesn't get leave,  we will head out Friday around Midnight.

I see there are a lot of people leaving Wednesday and Thursday from Fresno. Is anybody planning to leave early Friday morning from Fresno?

Do they have Diesel? I think that is where we went last year, we didn't fill the Mammoth but others got gas, and we went to a Home Depot.

RockSlayer, our plan is to go out EARLY Friday morning. We'll be with BD, FFC, Geno, Yotaboy79, UncJ, Rockscrambler and a few others I think, I believe Kyota is with us, too.
Most of us are staying at the KOA in Placerville and riding out from there Fri. A.M.

Where are y'all meeting up when you leave Fresno?

What is the deal with KOA? Is there spaces set aside for all of us, or do I need to make my own reservation?

Lady Di

If you are coming from the Fresno area we can look at caravaning to Placerville. Rockscrambler will be riding with us from Fresno, too.

We will be meeting everyone else at the Placerville KOA. We are the Placerville KOA Caravan, I guess.

http://www.koa-placerville.com/

You have to make your own reservation. Last I heard there were still area's available but it is a very popular campground in the area, so if you are going to make one do it soon.

If we had known there would be so many we would have made arrangements to have a group area. Next year we'll have to talk about that sooner.

Everyone filling up at Pollock Pines? :dunno:

:dunno: I usually just fill up in placerville, and go with what I've got there.  It only takes me about 2 gallons, mabye 3 to get to the 'con, so I've never been too worried.  I've gotta find my 5 gal. can though   think I may dad lost it at the lake last year.

Since diesel is few and far between we are going to carry two Jerry Can's up to the trailhead. We'll top off with one, and if it's OK with FFC (which I don't see why not) we'll leave that one with her rig, and we'll pick it up on the way back out
We are trying to minimize as much as we can. We are so bad at overpacking.

Most likely we will all be going out at the same time, to the same place but even if we don't it's NBD if she ends up hanging on to it.
