Since diesel is few and far between we are going to carry two Jerry Can's up to the trailhead. We'll top off with one, and if it's OK with FFC (which I don't see why not) we'll leave that one with her rig, and we'll pick it up on the way back out
We are trying to minimize as much as we can. We are so bad at overpacking.

:gap: Not a prob.  By then I'll have my new tow rig runnin :crossed: and won't have to worry so much bout grandpa's truck sittin

Question for Mike.

I sent my paperwork in on June 1st. and my check hasn't cleared the bank yet. I'm just wondering if you got it or not. If you have, I reckon I'll be join'n the Chico caravan, so you can add me to the list.
If not, let me know so I can get r done.

Thanks.
Marvin

Krawlz, Mike went to Japan for a month. I believe he said he is going to be incommunicado until then. At least he is not collecting the registrations. I don't know that anyone else is taking care of it.

Check out his profile, it has a countdown ticker showing how long before he is back

We may have a guest celebrity joining mrsK and I from Wa but we need to find him a spot to leave his semi and 35 ft trailer as close to the trailhead as possible for the weekend. Anything closer than the KOA? needs to be secure. I was thinking the Tahoma staging area on the Tahoe side also but I dont think he could get that set up in there. Staging area at the reservoir on Loon side for something that size?

Rocksurfer

There are a couple campgrounds after the Ice House you might wanna check with them.

Robbs is 8 miles off the trail head, I think I'm going to cancell KOA and stay at Robbs, plus its only $5 aday instead of $25 a day

you guys can swing in and wake us up on the way out!!  :talkingn:

Lady Di

so you're going to take the semi and your truck and trailer up Ice House Rd.? We can't take the motorhome up there, it'll be too steep for us. I guess they do have logging trucks or something on that road too though.
Although  we could think about parking the LBC at the KOA on Thur., that's still a definate for us, and riding up to Robbs Thur. night and tent camp there, we wouldn't have to get up so early to get to the trailhead early.
But that's going to depend on picking up UncJ and maybe Bubba and what everyone else is up for doing on Thur. then. We'll ahve to play that one by ear, I think.

which is ? this is fun and all but how about just spitting it out?

Lady Di

I never know when you are busting chops or serious!  :hahaha:

According to Google Earth Icehouse Rd. goes from 3652' where it turns off of Hwy. 50, to 6387' at Loon Lake in about 16 miles, as the crow flies.
But of course it's not a straight drive, you have to wind around and around to get up the moutain by the road.
Do you have Google Earth? I can send you the file to it, you can see where the road is and how windy it is.
Or I can capture the image and post it here unless you are just busting our chops then :_oops: nevermind...

It's a bad example but the best I could find in Google.  You climb several thousand feet in the course of only a few miles.  It's a huge climb starting at the beginning of Ice House road.  A semi can do it, I've seen motorhomes do it. But it's not an easy climb for such a big vehicle.  Shoot, my S-10 4.3 couldn't do more than 15mph goin up it :headscratch:
