OK just talked to Nicky @ KOA about grouping us together, she said she cant guarantee anything but she will try to get us all together. So if your going to stay there be sure and tell them that you are part of the Marlin 4 Wheeling group and they will do their best to get us together.

I've got to check on how many days I put down for anyway, I'll call about the RV spots.
I am sure all the tent campers will be able to camp in the same area, and I believe that is near the Kamping Kabins as well, but last year we were on the opposite side of the campground from that. Not like it's a HUGE distance either though.

But either way, I'm sure we'll be over to visit though since no doubt that is where the party will be!

:camping:

:woohoo: the Placerville KOA Caravan ROCKS!!

  have you seen the size of our dogs?    :rofl2:

The funny thing was as the dogs got close the goat would ram the fence. The dogs would get such a funny shocked look on their face!

Riding goats! Roasting goats!!
note to self: call campground and tell them to hide the goats!  :yikes:
I would highly advise everyone call and make reservations asap. (am I soundling like a broken record?  :blah: )
That campground is right in wine country too, and is very popular with weekenders it seems, not just us wheelers. It's about the only campground in that area that I could find.
I know we still have a couple months, but the sooner the better, then that's done and you know your :moon: is covered.

OK, here's the layout as far as I can see.
What's with the Group Fire Ring at the top? Is that an area you can reserve? (may be already if they only have 5 spots left!)
The tent camping sites are just W. of the goats!!  :yikes: But if you guys are trailering are you getting tent sites? Or RV sites? I guess you can get a tent site with a truck and trailer too.

Whatever the highway is out of the trailhead, we made a right and it took us around Lk. Tahoe. That took us to 50.

The trail out from the springs may be way faster, only cadillac hill to worry about and the rest is cake, but a couple hills? I guess it depends on what your vehicle can do on hills.

Those were some STEEP ass hills. At one point we had a huge parade behind us so Mark pulled off to let the line go by, it was all he could do to get it back in 1st gear without stalling or having to put it in a lower gear!

And then you still drove the highway 50 back past the turnoff to the Loon Lake trailhead.

The view is amazing going around the lake though.

oh ok to clear this up, yes there are some big hill espescially the one that you just mentioned that goes up to 7600 ft but if you go the other way there are a ton more of slightly smaller ones and then you have to drive all the way around and through sac and go back up to placerville.   In you toyota you should be able to pull 40 up that hill kyota dont waste you time going all the way around

*FFC*

We could always relocate our camp site to somewhere in Georgetown area :dunno: That way there are way fewer hills..... :beerchug:

unless you can guarantee goats in Gtown, I'm staying at the KOA. I'm not concerned with the hills, I was just trying to find out the best way to get back to Placerville. I didnt realize you hadda go all the way back to Sac to get  back to Placerville.

I researched  campground close to the trailhead last year, the KOA is the only one I found that is close, and for us, with the leaving the LBC for a few days, a KOA is a nice secure place.
We already have a lot of people going to the KOA. I just did a search for campgrounds in Georgetown. That area is too off the beaten track for us to chance taking the LBC. KOA it is!

:woohoo:

Kyota, the ride around S. Lake Tahoe is gorgeous and I'm sure is not a bad drive if you can manage the hills. We'll be much better off ourselves this year as well.

haha...sorry. Typically, that phrase is used more when referring to sheep(hence the WOOLite), but Kashmir(Cashmere) comes from goats, so I figured, WTF?!
