 :rofl2:

yea it is tall, once the tires are stuffed it has about 2" of clearance on the tube... so i'm not sure if I want to drop it much further.

I can suspect cryo'd input/output shafts sooner then later....

I'd say the truck stands atleast 6' 5" maybe taller...

Its interesting getting the looks in the neighbor hood... but most of the people that live in the area know what we do and dont think much of it when we're out in the back field rolling out junk on the concrete slabs and dirt mounds.

pulled the rearend apart about 10 times today trying to get the brakes working. got brakes but i dunno if the stock MC's going to be able to keep up with the  D60 calipers and 14 bolt drum brakes....

had a bunch of stuff go wrong/ start leaking from old age.. so pretty much everythings been changed. Tomorrow i'll start with adjusting the rear AGAIN and bleeding all the brakes AGAIN...

today was a pregnant dog, never spent 8 hrs on brakes before  :shake:

way to go man I think mine will be done.  Would you guys be up for running dusy or the con after the roundup

Shamb

brake lines and fuel lines have all be ran into place not zip tied to the exo. still have mush pedal but I have a feeling my booster may have a leak...... ???

truck has good pedal when its shut off but once the truck starts I have to compress the brake pedal within an inch of the floor board before it has any breaks... my thought behind this is that the fluid isn't staying pressurized in the line so once my foot comes off the pedal the fluid rush's back into the reseivor.... just a guess though. I have access to a 85 toyota pickup w/ a 22RE.. going to pull the booster and master cylinder off of it and see if I can't bolt it up there for a comparison.

What I have left

- Run lights to the front
- bend tube around my hydro
- run line to charcoal canister from the gas tank
- remount the seats
- pull the shocks off and fill them with 5w fork oil for some stiffness in the ride
- fix one beadlock thats leaking................again.

All this needs to be done by the end of this week, nothing big but getting the resources to do some of this work will be kind of a pita...

gotrocks, we should run Barrett or Fordyce after the roundup. That would be a blast, i'm down.

If your pedal bleads off pressure and eventually ends up on the floor, chances are good it's your master. If you get solid pressure, just have to put all your weight into it, it's either a vacuum leak outside or inside the booster.

The fluid in the line isn't supposed to stay pressurized, if it did, your brakes would not release.  Your master is shot and/or not big enough to work those brakes.

Shamb

hmm... I see your point, I'll start with replacing the MC and go from there.

I was under the impression if the MC was bad then you'd see the pressure going somewere other then the brakes (leak??)

But it doesn't leak anywere that I can see... I'll pull it off today or tomorrow and give it the ol' screwdriver test.

You should upgrade to a chevy 3/4 ton master. It is supposed to make a hell of a difference. That is what I did to mine but I have'nt bled the brakes yet to find out how well it is going to work first hand. I am also running rear disks with BTF mounts 3/4 ton chevy rotors and calipers.

not necessarily.  It can bypass internally, and it can leak into the booster.  Which one depends on if you are losing fluid or not.

I am looking forward to seeing that beast. Great job  :flamer:

Question, if I eventually decide to run discs in the rear (because its fairly cheap!)  Will I lose width by taking the drums off?  If so do they make a spacer to compensate for the width lose?

I'm going to give the Rockstomper MC a chance when I get back from MCR5.

Today I got the rock/ front lights mounted and working off my headlight switch, tomorrow the shocks will be getting adjusted and hopefully be bending the tube in the front to somewhat cover the hydro ram. Trucks going to have some rough edges at MCR5 this year only because i'm pushing for time but it'll work.

Rotors are mounted inside wheel hubs just like the drums leaving the same wheel mounting surface.

nothing new, getting up early tomorrow. I hope to accomplish adjusting the shocks and bolting my seats down... try and get some protection across my ram as well. Probably be a long day but as long as it gets done.

i officially hate this truck, its got on my last nerve and these fox shocks can go suck a "you know what"  I took everyone's advice today on adding oil to the shocks. Started with  35cc's of oil in the front and around 20-25cc's in the rear. Then bumped the nitrogen to 350ish for the front and 200 for the rear... well about the only thing that did was limit my articulation about a foot lower. So the truck comes a little over waist high before it lifts a tire...............lame.......... and the ride is still completely screwed up. Its an inch higher on the passanger side and when I turn the corner the whole truck lifts up a foot or more...

What the hell am I doing WRONG here?!  This truck can't weigh that much, all it is.. is a tubed rear end and a cab....

I just dont get it, i'm almost to the point of trying to scroung money for full coils.

... still plan on running the con for MCR5 but its going to suck... just getting it on my trailer the front end lifts over a foot... just stupid  :shake:

gotrocks

sorry man I'm really sorry to hear that I wish I could be more help to you but I had it setup for me for this exact reason.

Shamb

going to put a limit strap in the middle of the axle today probably and going to plate the rear.

Just going to run the truck as is for now... hopefully the begining of next year some time i'll able to get coils.

Your not going to pull any oil out? I thought you would drop it to 10-15cc's or so. What about the nitrogen level? I mean, if you are gonna have to deal with lean you may as well have that extra articulation too.  :dunno:
