I have a feeling there might be more air in the system Mark, I just ran out of fluid so I had to stop.

I picked up a gallon today so I should be good.

I did bench bleed the MC before installing it, only air in the system was from that new 6' piece of brakeline that I replaced.

I'll try and take a few snap shots today of progress.

I'll also be going to pickup some fluid here in a few minutes for the hydro. Should have that functioning today as well.

I can't wait to get these "functionality" prob's fixed so I can get back to the more "non serious" items like a stereo... speakers.. ect ect.   :)

I'll post this here since PBB is being a piece of... you know what right now.

All I need to know is if this is how I should be plumbing my inline cooler.

Thanks.

got everything hooked up but didn't have a chance to bleed it because my wifes car broke down at the bank so I had to go get it running and get it home.

MCR's kinda "iffy" right now because I dunno if i'll have a tow rig and the truck's still being a POS.

Gonna order the residue valves tonight, I bleed a good 1/2 gallon of brake fluid through the lines so i'm pretty sure there isn't any air in them. While pumping the pedal it feels pretty good but if I let off for a few seconds it feels like all the fluid rush's back into the MC and it looses all line pressure.   :dunno:

On to the next thing I guess!

I will definently 100% be working on the truck everyday this week after work to TRY and get it ready. I never give up  :)

Don't give up...  Make it too the roundup.

I've been working everyday on my junk after work as well.     :D

So I ended up swapping the mounting brackets for the rear discs so that the bleeded is facing upward. Got me some more brake.. atleast I can kinda stop it now. Not really where I would prefer it but it will work for now I suppose. I'm gonna bleed 'em a little more and add the residual valves once they come.

I also gave the rig a quick wash, almost ready.

How is it the bleeder wound up on the bottom?  :slap:

Is it possible they are on the wrong side or you have two of the same side?

since you have them connected to a flex line just unbolt them and bleed them perfect and then bolt them back on how you had them

Thats a good idea actually, because if you look at my Banjo bolts they're gonna hit the coil's  :ack:

I'll probably end up doing that,  you ready Pat?

If both are pointing down when they are on the back side of the axle, switch sides. That should put the bleeders facing up.

Yea Mark, that is a good idea as well. I'll mess around w/ it tomorrow after work.  I have to pull everything off/out in order to get those brackets swapped around.. yea no biggie but a little time consuming considering what i've got to work w/ right now. Took the better part of 2 hrs today.

QuoteWhat happened to the red Tahoe?.

Being a P O S, I'm gonna haul with it because I have no other choice right now but the "service engine soon" light is on  :shake:  and its dog ass slow. When the tranny downshifts it loses ALL power... but whatever.. i'll deal with it later.

I might talk my buddy into trading rigs for the week so I can cruise his gas hog F350 up.

We'll see.

Yeah if the bleeders are not pointed up when bleeding, you'll never get all the air out of the system. Air rises so if the bleeder is not on top, an air pocket will remain on top.
"between projects"

Shamb

yea..

that's amazing considering how much pressure builds up in that brakeline, you'd think the air would rush out no matter where the bleeder valve was.

Still awaiting my valves, Dave was suppose to send them off last Friday.. considering its a holiday weekend it should be here tomorrow.

Pressure always distributes equally so once you pressurize with the bubble on top it just ends up suspended there due to the high pressure around it in the fluid and the low pressure zone up against the top of the caliper.  Physics is evil like that.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Yea, but the bubble gets smaller under pressure.  Sorry, this isn't Mr wizzard physics thread is it?

Indeed it does as air is a compressible fluid, whereas the hydro fluid is "incompressible."

Quotesince you have them connected to a flex line just unbolt them and bleed them perfect and then bolt them back on how you had them

actually after thinking awhile, this will not work because once the brakes are bleed and have all that pressure against the caliper piston I won't be able to pull it off the rotor, IF I do get it off the rotor i'd probably never get it back on again.

I'm gonna mess around with swapping sides.. we'll see.. not to worried about it right now.

it will come off fine and to get it back on use a c-clamp to squezz the piston in and then put it on just like putting new pads on

Willy Mammoth

You could also put a block of wood between the pads to keep them apart while bleeding.

 :dunno:

yea, not to worried about it, I bleed them again today. Ensuring there isn't an ounce of air in the lines. Its got "decent" pedal I guess.. it goes about 3/4" from hitting the firewall before the pedal stops... should be a bit more then that but I havn't installed the Wilwood Residual valves yet.

I'm gonna try and make a trip to the Hose shop tomorrow to see if they make a 1/8-27 adapter to a standard toyota brakeline fitting which is 10mm 1.0

:crossed:

Edit:

When this truck comes back from MCR this year the first thing I will be doing is replacing ALL of the brake lines in this truck with standard sized fittings... This will make it much easier to find adapters, everything on the truck is pretty much Chevy anyways so... it will make my life alot easier in the long run and really won't take much time either.

I forsee a gotpropane kit as well soon  :)
