More likely an impound if you found the right cop.

If I travel through a different state am I subject to that states lift laws, or would it still be under my state (WY) laws? I would assume I am still under my states lift laws.
I am pretty sure that you are subject to YOUR state laws. I registered my truck in Illinois (even though I live in Missouri) just in case......Most MO officers aren't too familiar with Illinois laws
I know in California you must follow the laws here.

I had a Chevy that I had bought in Reno NV & I had not changed the title into my name yet so it still had NV plates. It had 35's, tinted side windows & no mudflaps. CHP pulled me over & asked how long I was goning to visit California? I said I live here & had had just bought the truck. He said that I had to get mudflaps & remove the window tint.

I also got pulled over in Wyoming for no front plate. I had California plates.

My guess is you have to follow the laws of the state your visiting.

Sounds like you had a Lame cop pull you over.

before I put the tube doors on, I drove around all summer without any doors and never got pulled over.  I even passed cops several times who never even batted an eye.  they probably just had sympathy on my truck.   :hahaha:

Anyway i was courious and i started digging.  I found nothing in the CA vehicle codes that specifically stated that a. "you have to have doors"  or b. "you cannot drive without doors"  I also found nothing about that lip along the bottom.    You are required to have 2 mirrors so that was illegal.  I'm putting a cheap one onto my drivers side tube door to satisfy that one.

But i suppose they could get you on that "unsafe mod" minisimp.

this was over a year ago, so maybee some things have changed.

I took my mirror off my door and bolted it to my fender, so that one plus my rear view makes 2.

To be more specific on that law; you must have 2 mirrors, one of them must be the drivers side mirror.

Davez Offroad has some nice tube door mirrors and cupholder

Only for no fenders. It considered "open wheel" Unless the vehicle was originally designed as an open wheeled vehicle it is not allowed.  How the exception of Hot Rods plays out, I'm not sure. Maybe because that's how they were considered as being built.  :dunno:

More specific yet.    The one on the windshield or pass. door are not required together but you must have one or the other.

so, if I'm hearing this right, then if I visit Kommiefornia, then I would also have to submit my vehicle for an emissions test? If I am required to meet any of the Kommie requirements, then I would have to meet them ALL.

NO. My vehicle meets the laws of the state in which it is registered, and cannot be forced to meet ANY more stringent requirement by another state (unless I MOVE there and have to register it there). 35% window tint is legal in FL. If your state has outlawed it's use, I do NOT have to remove it because I drive into or thru your state. If my state has no mudflap requirements, then, your state's requirements do not apply to my vehicle. It all goes by the state in which you reside and register your vehicles.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

I shall infuse thy Jeep with the Essence of Toyota...and maybe that one won't pee on itself at the first sight of granite. - Duffil

:nonono: NO, no smog test for you. This is only in regards to safety related items. You would only have to smog if you were to register your vehicle here.  If it pollutes that bad then keep it on the east coast. We have enough crap here already. Seeing, you don't like commies and all.

35%? That's all?  :haha:  As far as window tint we can tint all the glass behind the driver as dark as we wish, paint them or remove them and block them out even. You must have a pass. side mirror though. You're even allowed the top 4 inches and bottom 6 inches of the windshield. and I think the 2 inches along either side of the windshield as well. Sounds stupid but some people will do anything just cause they can get away with it.  :shake: :slap:

Sorry to burst your bubble but even coming from out of state you will have to at least meet the federal standards, and most laws even in CA follow these standards. Some states just don't enforce them. A prime example would be smog equipment, some day all you guys that rip that stuff off your vehicles will get popped since things like cats, pumps, etc, etc are not state mandated but federally mandated and are just not being enforced. One day when the smog gets so bad due to increased population the state will have to mandate it and you'll be sorry.

In California if the vehicle weighs under a certain amount (for some reason 2,100 #,s is sticking in my head) you do not have to have fenders. That is why you see T-buckets, some Highboy Roadsters, Motorcycles, and utility trailers with out them. The guy that owned the T-bucket I helped build had a certified weight slip in his wallet and glove box just for that reason.

It would be legal here... well maybe not legal (can't get busted if the laws are not enforced), but as long as I have a windshield, and two mirrors, I should be good to go. I don't understand why California has to be so controlling of what people do. I see nothing wrong with driving a truck with no hood, fenders, doors, bed, or muffler. But I guess that is why I will never live in California, just too many rules.

One reason is the amount of vehicles and in my opinion the only place an open header sound  good is on the drag strip. I do not want to hear it on the street and most of all on the trails where I am trying to gather my thoughts. It seems like on the trails the guys with the loudest exhaust have to blast them in the middle of the night in a drunken stupor thinking they are cool. Nothing Mr. Glock will not resolve.

I have had two windshields taken out from A-holes with lifted PowerJokes and no mudflaps. They are not that hard to make detachable for the trail. run them.

I see. Well even with a muffler, my truck is super loud, loud enough to get on my nerves. I am going to change it out once it stops snowing off and on. I was pretty much being an ass trying to get the point across that California has too many laws and really strict enforcement. And FYI, I do not drink. Also, I do have mudflaps, both front and rear. I will stop raping Duffil's thread now. I am sorry for being an ass.
