Since it is getting sunny/nice again I am thinking of starting another set of halfdoors.  I have done some drawings and have come up with a couple options.

red is my original idea on the last doors.  Pretty sure I'm not going to do that one.
Green is my number 2 idea right now
Green with the black added on is number 1.

any ideas? what do you guys think?

Go with the red one :gap:

I really like that cut.  the top level is at a perfect arm level, and the bottom cut gives you plenty of viewing space, without having to lean out.

gee i wonder why... :hammerhead:  the only thing is I'm thinking I had more trouble with the latch mechanism last time, keeping the handle intact would solve that problem and I don't think I've seen it kept in a halfdoor before.

:dunno: I don't have any problems with my latch mechanism (other than my handle coming unglued from the door, and the little plastic clip breaking off from stress of me using the door handle anyway, w/o regluing it, but i fixed that, just don't glue your handles)  I actually moved the inside handle straight down from its stock location.  I just have to reach inside the door and open it.  I wanted to do that, because I jacked up the outside door handle on that door (before I cut it) landing on an edge of a rock.  It broke the handle apart, and pushed it into the door, and bent the rod bad enough that I couldn't unlock the door.  I wanted to protect my sole door opening mechanism as much as possible from damage :gap:

i like this idea.... not as low as you last had... and you can use your handle...

Not the best idea i've seen.  That tallest part is going to make for one nasty place to hit your elbow when you bounce around a bit.  Bring that edge down, and it is less likely to happen.

I've seen some to where they move the inside handle to the middle top of the door once it is cut. I've not done it but they say it takes very little work to make it operate in that position. Also once you cut it fill the inside with the hard foam cans it really makes the door strong and helps with damage. A friend of mine did this to his sammi and those doors can take a hard hit with no damage to them.

that's what i tried with the last set, but I boogered it up and couldn't get it to work.

and on the foam, do NOT use it until the door is fully welded, otherwise it melts and expands again.  ask me how I know. :hammerhead:

I hadn't thought of that.  thanks.

not after BD noticing your arm will hit it.  I checked where my arm sits today and it looks like I need to cut it all the way back.

So, since I only have one spare door right now, I sidelined my halfdoor ideas and picked up the ugliest bumper ever made.

At the very least these brackets have to be ground down and rewelded...probably end up taking them off altogether and making new ones.

this is kinda what I want to do.
