on the upper gusset.   through the hole in it.  Single shear design, like a LC...instead of the pickup-style double shear.

well...it would appear I either lost valve guide seals or a ring this morning. Gonna check plugs tomorrow and see which cylinder is in trouble.

I blew it today.  Thermostat stuck closed.  It looked worse when I changed the thermostat at lunch today.

I just basically did a head gasket plus some upgrades and its pretty easy, it was my first head gasket ever and i did it just by a little reading on the pirate board and the FSM.  If i do it ever again i would pull the motor though.

I've done them before probably 3 or 4 times, and I built this engine...it's not a big deal.  It's just a PITA.

I am contemplating changing cams while I have this thing apart...I'm gonna try to find some specs on a few and run them through Desktop Dyno to see the power curve and where it will change.  It's still up in the air though.

Thats been done before here http://forums.off-road.com/engines/223195-camshaft-profiles-22r-2.html

Im running the engnbldr 268 torquer cam and it pulls pretty good in the higher rpms. Half the price of LC also.

not yet.  I have actually been driving it :_oops:

I am driving my boss' truck now, so I am waiting on a few more parts to show up, and then it should get torn down Saturday and back together by Monday night, as long as the machine shop gets the head back to me monday.
