I dented my sliders at the con.  I've been kicking around the idea of sleeving the outside with pipe, but they don't make 1 3/4" pipe.  I don't want to pony up the :twocents: for 2" .120 wall tube, so I was thinking of using some 1/8" x 2" flat bar, welding it on , then bending it around and welding up the bottom...which would give me an effective wall of .240.  Just on the outside/lower side.  Anyone see any problems with this idea?

If your sliders are 1.5" then you can slide 1.5" Ridgid Conduit over your sliders. Ridgid 1.5" is 1.5" ID not OD.

:turtle:  sliders are 1 3/4" .120 wall tube.

did you read my post at all?  I don't want to pay for what 2" .120 tube will cost...just thinking about using flat bar around it...and have it not look too ghetto.

 if it's on a straight section, you could cut out the section and replace it with same size tubing.   You wouldn't need to buy as much tubing and the repair can be ground to look as if nothing ever happened.  :yesnod:  I did something like this on a buggy frame once and it came out quite nice . I'm sure you'll figure something out  8)

The slider did it's job. So what that you dented it. Just run it, it shows that you use your truck  :twocents:

It's not that bad, I'm not trying to hide it.  I know it did it's job, but I didn't think I hit anything that hard. I just wanted to add some beef to it...toughen it up a little.

yeah...that's what I'm thinking.  I've looked at all my options and just said flopp it.  I'll probably be picking up an IFS rear housing in a couple weeks, so I'll be busy again anyway. :flamer:

This is why I hate not having a place to work on :pokinit:.  I took a chunk of 3/8" steel to a steelshop where a buddy of mine works.  I gave him two templates of what I needed and everything was drawn out and marked on the steel itself.  This is what I was given.  :tantrum: I didn't have to pay for the work, but I am out a chunk of steel.

Those look pretty bad but, 1/4" or even 3/16" plate would be more than strong enough for a track bar mount if built right. 3/8"s is overkill

I went and wheeled the Rim trail again today...great time.  I think my tranny is getting ready to grenade though...bad vibes in 3rd and 4th.  A bearing is out somewhere...and my drivers hub is starting to mist out oil.  I also might have a broken centering stud on my front CV driveline. It's vibrating bad on and off. Time to get :flamer: on my new front end.
