PAINT FINALLY! I used a industrial low gloss paint that is tuff stuff i heard. Sprayed it on monday took me about 7 hours with some help taping from my lady. All together it cost me about 150$ to spray it and i love how it came out. The tan on black looks sick....i was rushing so much i forgot to paint the tail gate but i will do that later when i paint the doors

yeah I saw the pics of Matt's truck on his myspace, I'm surprised he got that thing started it's such a peice of  :pokinit: Me and his brother were screwing with it this summer because we wanted to race it against ryans runner but ryan was an idiot and jammed a screw driver in there trying to start it. Anyways, the paint looks awesome. Way better than the rattle can black.

Well i ran the rubicon for mcr5 and it was a great time. First time through in my own rig. I didnt break anything just bashed the new paint a bit, but i dont care. I met a lot of really cool people who know how to wheel and get down. Lots of pictures in the round up talk.

Right now im making a new lighter rear bumper that is almost finished up with shackles on it. Also a spare tire carrier that will mount above the back of the bed so i can store everything under it. I noticed i just dont have too much room now so this will get it out of the way for trips

Today i ordered ARP knuckles studs from FROR sense the stockers are such a weak point on the toy axle. Im thinking if i get the hydro assist set up from trail gear im going to need those arps anyways.

Finished the tire carrier. Used 1x1 square 1/8" wall for most of it. Used scraps i had around for the rest of it. Some 1/4" plate, .188 wall dom, 1/4" angle iron. Its light and sturdy, frees up a lot of space in the bed.

Just about done with the rear bumper. Made it out of 2x4 1/8" wall to keep it light. It wont be used very much so i went with thinner material. Its plenty strong. Plated with 1/4" for some clevis shackle mounts i am going to make out of 3/4" plate later this week.

Frame mounts 1/4" 2x2 angle iron

I got it painted and on the truck now. More pictures later

Well, spent the last 2 days cleaning all the sludge out of my intake manifold and throttle body, replaced the tps sensor, put it back together and wow my truck runs 20 times better now. I am happy about with it. Now i need a header and cam so i can make it up the hill faster than 50mph.

I still have a couple things to do before the fordyce trip in 2 weeks.

Pictures from fordyce trip http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l287/yota4life/Fordyce/

After the last couple trips i have had problems getting high centered on the crossmember so its flatbelly time. Raising the t-cases about 4 inches. I want it even with the frame rails for the most part. Raising the gas tank 2 or 2.5" also flat with the frame rails. I thought long and hard about what to do with the horsecollar crossmember, was thinking of making one out of square tube but then i would have to set up the ebrake and gas tank mount so. What i came up with is to cut it off and raise it about 2.5" inches im thinking will be good and cut out the horsecollar bend and clearence it as much as i can for the t-case flange/driveshaft. For once the body lift will benifit being on my rig. I dont like them but for a flatbelly it will save me cutting out my tranny tunnel. Looks like i will have to cut out just the very back of my cab if even that and make some more room. Im doing all the cutting this week with a plasma.

Where its going to be mounted, maybe a little higher
Im buying the Front range kit but im thinking of fabing my own skid plate. It cost 70$ more for theirs, i could make a better one though. Still not sure what im going to do.

Stock height

Pulled out the crap manifold and installed this

Tri-y header from doug thorley. Im going to redo my ehaust for the 3rd time when the flaybelly is done.

Half doors almost done but going to hold off on those till later. Just some grinding and paint left.

you can buy the crossmember from the place brad works and they work great but there not really stong enough.  If you do that just buy the center section and build out from there yourself.  There 3/8" plate but for some reason thats just not strong enough for me

I could do the arms out of 1/2" plate. He told me they used to make them i dont know if they still have any left. I could save a lot of money doing it that way. How much do they sell the center section with bushings and hardware?

$125 but its the arm that goes to the bushing that bends.  i'd just buy the center part that bolts to the t-case from them for $50 and go from there with some round tube bent on the bender you guys just got.

i plated mine so it isn't going to bend.  it really isn't hard at all to build a basic skidplate like i  did.  just used a stock t-case mount cut in half for the front adn then bolted it to the crossmember flange on the back.  i haven't even hit mine yet so i have no idea if it is strong enough but i think it is.  good idea on the gas tank lift, the body lift helps a lot.  what motor mounts do you have?  i would say chain them if they aren't already because it is going to stress them more with the new angle.

there is like 3 more mounts sitting at the shop.  they i don't know if we have any center sections cut right now.  but likei said if you take the hole thing a plate the 2 spots that need it you should be good to go.  but it comes with all bolts, 2 rubber mounts, and 2 brakets for the frame.  your gonna need a flush mount allen head oil fill plug though.

I have the stock mounts and i was thinking the same thing. I should put a chain on it. Post a pic of how you welded the chain brad. For the fill plug, its jb welded in hah. It stripped out so that was my quick fix. Still sealed up good. I seen how you did your skidplate and the mount in the rear is a good idea. Tube arms would work i have seen that dont before. Heres how the frof is built, is it the same as your works? The fror crossmember looks pretty damn strong.

the arms for the plate aren't as long at the front range one.  i think they bend were the arms meet the plate.  like right were the welds are from the arms to the plate on the inside.  the plate is 3/8's i believe and the two arms are half inch.  i don't think the arms are bending liek pat said.  the one i have on my truck was on my bosses truck before.  he actualle broke it, but with dual cases and 4.7 in the rear and 4.0 in the front there is a lot of torque going through it.  i grabbed it out of the dumbster and welded it back together then plated it.  it has been good for 2 trips so far.

I cant stand working under this thing will all the prarie city mud falling in my eyes. Rolled it out and pressure washed the whole bottom side. Cut the crossmember and brackets that were in the way on the frame off. Had to cut the back of the tranny tunnel out to get the t-cases where i wanted them. I have some ideas for a center console to cover and seal that up. I just need to order the fror crossmember so i can get everything mocked up.

looks good, i need to cut off my crossmember too, but i dont have the body lift to make it ease, and all i have is a grinder with a cut off disc, i also got a crossmember center section from front range off road fab , and i am using stock 4runner 4 link bars to build the arms.

how hard was it to cut that crossmember out?  probably a lot easier with that plasma cutter.  do you think a torche could get in there easily?  i might have to do that when i link mine.

I havent had internet for the last week but its back now. The crossmember was pretty easy with the plasma, it could be done with a torch too. The sides and the bottom were easy but the top would be hard to get to without a bl. Finally put an order in at fror today and last weekend i got the frame for the center all welded up.

How does your spare tire carrier work?  Does it have a lot of vibration?  I'm curious about the design of it.
