What if I don't want to talk about jesus christ...what if I am tired of all the bandwith being taken up by right wing, conservative, idealogue freaks who should spend more time wrenching and less time in church trying to figure out how to stop the leftist media from ruining THEIR country.

Oops...what happened there?  I was channeling a dead political activist me thinks.  Welp, sorry bout that.  Carry on.

I guess Im more curious about Christ more than the religion...  As a Mormon I believed thats Jesus Christ was a god, but not God, I beleived he was the spirit brother of Lucifer, and that Jesus had many wives and his blood didnt cover all sins...  I know Jehovahs witnesses believe he was a prophet... or a god, not GOD. Some people say he was a crazy man. Its just interesting to see what people think...  that really is the most important question..What do you think of Chrsist.

CTENG... then quit reading the post! lol, j/k.

I like this topic.... my views:
I believe that Jesus Christ is the perfect son of God.  I believe that he is fully man and fully God. On top of that I believe he died, rose again, and is alive and well today. I KNOW that I have an active relationship with Him and he is my salvation. Additionally, I believe he is the only perfect being to ever walk the earth and that he will return again someday.

REPOST!

I started the other thread and the original intent was two things: (1) see what religions were represented on the board  :smack:  and (2) to see how religion, a forbidden topic, would be handled.  Obviously, most everyone was very adult and the discussion is ongoing with good information and dialogue. This thread is specifically about Jesus Christ, this can be from both Christian and non-Christian perspectives and also from an unbelievers prospective.

Jesus Christ is 1/3 of the Godhead (Trinity) that is known in earthly terms as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (or Ghost).  I have no idea what form they were all originally in, but what makes Jesus Christ unique is that he gave up His omnipresence (being everywhere at once) in order to take on human form when He came to earth.  He is both all God and all Man (I can't fully grasp this concept), but he will have the human form for eternity, we will be able to see the scars on his hands in heaven.  As I posted on the other thread, He tool ALL of our problems (sin and all things that are a result of sin) with Him to the cross.  He has provided salvation for everyone, we just have to accept it.

Chim,  It is rare to find people that are willing to give up so much to follow truth (Post more info on the other thread about the LDS, I would like to know more since I work with a ton of them).  From my perspective, see the other thread, the majority of mainstream Christianity is missing the truth about the Sabbath.  I don't know what your exact perspective is, but I would suggest really studying what the Bible has to say about it and make the choice for yourself rather than following the crowd (you have already made the hardest choice you will likely ever make).

For the record, I have a ton of respect for you based on your strength of character.

Alright then...I think jesus was a guy made with a sperm and an egg.  He had brothers and sisters and was married and had children.  I don't think he was a messiah, it was too easy for his brother Judas to take up his "mission."  jesus is well known because he was the first, but two of his younger brothers lead his herd around after he died proclaiming they were the "messiah."  Stories and lore, I find it reprehensible that people will put more than passing curiosity into a 2000 year old fable.

If its stories and lore, then where do you get your stories from, because the Bible never taught Jesus was married and had kids? If you find it reprehesible that people will put more than a passing curisosity into a 2000 year old fable.. then add yourself to that catagory, because you seem to know more about the stories and fables than just a passer by??? Welcome to the club :)

14 years of catholic school, I'm still recovering.  I went not because we were religious, but because of the superior education.  The story, for the record, is certainly interesting, but basing your life around it is extreme.  I don't believe any gods have ever walked the earth or what have you, I think the only good religion can do is serve as a stepping stone for morality, past that it becomes activism and extremism which we see more of today. Reminds you of the crusades, no?  And just because I do not believe in the religious hubbub does not mean that I should not know something about it, after all, knowing is half the battle.

I think living your life without Christ is EXTREMEly risky..  to me the Bible has been proved, logically, spiritually, mathmatically, archaeologcally,....  think about this.. The Bible is and has been the most scrutinized book by believers and non-believers alike, and has held up this whole time...  show me any other book that can claim that...  There is more physical proof and manuscript evidence than any other writings out there! To not believe in it takes more faith than actually believing it..    plus.. what is your hope after you die?

I once heard it said that for those on this earth that dont believe, this is the BEST it will ever be. For those who do believe, this is the WORST it will ever be..  If coming to work everyday and stressing out and being divorced and not seeing my kids everyday is the Best its going to be...  shoot me now!

supermat

Cteng,
There are two kinds of great thinkers in this world, the kind who believe there is something after you die and those who genuinely don't believe it. Of those who don't believe it, many think themselves into a corner, realize there is nothing, and commit suicide. There is a reason that the greatest minds of recent history take one of those two paths. Hoping there is nothing to come means that you either haven't thought it through or you've missed the boat because you wouldn't be a content being if you'd really considered your beliefs. Why is it that those with the most money, the biggest toys, etc... eventually say that there is nothing left to do, they feel empty, or they can't handle life anymore? Maybe money, stuff, and fun aren't what its all about.  :dunno:  (in my opinion and I'm open to criticism.)

chim

Toys and stuff are fun though... I want to have a cloud crawler when Im in Heaven, just think..  no need for body armor!

supermat

Never said toys were bad, just when that is all you focus on. And I'm down for a cloud crawler but I swear half the fun is when I hear, "cha-ching" and I think to myself.... should have put armor over that part too, dang it!  :yesnod:  Half the fun of wheeling is when stuff goes wrong, just not horribly wrong. Now you give me clouds that are hard when I climb and soft when I roll over.... now you're talkin!  :burnout:

Sorry to distract....  I just felt like I needed to lighten it up for a minute...  . . . . . . .I think a lot of non-believers are pushed away from Christianity and believeing because of so-called Christians not living what they preach, or maybe its because they think that becoming Christian means they are going to miss out on "fun" stuff like, drinking, smoking, lots of sex with whoever and to them its not worth it, but the bible tells us that all that stuff leads to distruction. Becoming Christian doesnt mean you are giving something up or being a stiff... your just living for something greater than yourself! Its not like we start asking for money as soon as someone believes... unlike mormonism.. tithing is not a commandment.. we pay because we love the Lord and know that everything we have comes from him.

We will all worship God and acknowledge that He is just at some future time.  After that one group will live forever and the other will be caput finished done.  The good news for you is that you have you can be caput finished done, if that is your choice.

Is it a bigger risk to live for Christ, be wrong about the whole thing and find that nothing happens in the end, or to assume that there is nothing in the end and miss out on living eternally?

As for cloud rockcrawling, I think that I would rather spend my time learning about all of the wonderful things in the universe that we know nothing about yet or don't have the capacity to understand.  I don't think that rockcrawling will be very exciting in comparison to what we will be able to do.

It seems reasonable that anything that we do on earth that we get a rush from because of our inate fear of being hurt, won't make much sense in heaven...make any sense?  Why would we get excited about skydiving when we can fly...or why rock crawler if nothing can break and we can't get hurt (a very slow way to explore the universe)...without fear, many things would lose their excitement.  I think the joy will be in spending time with Christ (the focus of the thread) and learning new things.

Its my job to arrange the meeting!

I dont believe that after the believers have inherited eternal life that all the others will just be kaput. The bible teaches that un believers will go to hell... scary stuff...  but Christ taught more on Hell than he ever did on Heaven. Thats why I personally dont understand why people wouldnt accept his FREE gift... spiritual blindness I guess.. As far as the what we will do in Heaven, I know that worshipping the Lord is all I will want to do...  I was tossing the cloud crawiling up there as a way to ease tension... after all this is also a wheelin board.
