Wow, that's scary how much my 4Runner looked like yours when I got it.

Hey, you stole my 4Runner :)  Missing the paint on the tailgate and everything.  That's crazy!

Took a trip to BV Carnage here in CO.  Ranked as the 3rd toughest trail in the state, it was everything my 4Runner could handle and then some  :screwy:

My friend told me one time that Carnage BV is that hard and that he wouldn't try it unless he was more setup, but after reading the trip report on CO4x4, I really want to do that trail.  I don't know why.  What is it, like a whole day trail that's only like a half mile long, or something like that?

And you need new tires, lol.

Shoyrtt

Great pics 8) Sounds like you are ready for some bigger tires and sheetmetal trimming.  :dunno: :flamer:

It's a hard trail and has gotten harder just this year.  The V-Notch and exit are way harder than any years past.  If you go, make sure you've got several people in your group with good winches, we used them.  Also, make sure you've got at least a couple of people with you to spot and push/pull on the body to keep it out of the rocks.

The trail is only .88 miles long and took 5 of us 12 HOURS.  That makes for a long day.

What size?

I really really want to run the 39.5 Iroks but then I would have a tough time driving them on the street to drive to the trails.  So far, I've been lucky and my dad has lent me his CTD to pull my 4Runner.

I'll probably end up with the 36" Iroks or the 37" Pitbulls.

My birthday was last Friday, here's the box my brother gave me.

Maybe he just reused a PSC box??

Nope, he bought me a PSC hydro assist steering ram

Now I just need to buy lines, a cooler, some hiems, and make some brackets and I'll be set!!  I'll be able to turn again, yeah!

That's a trail?  It looks like the aftermath of a flood where all the debris piles up.

Your either going to have the biggest arms in CO to turn those 40" Iroks or an empty wallet for hydro assist :)  I'll let you know how the steering works out.

Where did you purchase the fittings for the prop. valve? I need one of those 10mm metric unions and not one napa has them and i cant find them on the internet. Nice build by the way its looking pretty sick and the rock rash is adding some character :)

friggen eh man!  lets do it.  But I think you still need some bigger rubbers first.
Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Yup, I've got the tubing bender in the garage.  I just didn't have enough time to make some bumpers before the trip.  I'll still put some bumpers on, covering the wrinkled body :)

Front shot, ram is hidden away behind the tie rod

Closeup the the bracket I fab'ed.  The two rings on the outside hold the center pinch clamp.  I kinda got crazy with the tack welds and burnt through one of the outer rings (nice bugger weld)

Backside of bracket, I got this piece from Trail Gear.

The other bracket from TG welded on the top of the housing.

Hayden 401 Tranny cooler, works perfect for hydro assist.

Couldn't have tapped that in a better spot!  I was worried the fitting wasn't going to clear but it did!

Side shot of the ram.
