oh and also I ordered my aussie locker from a place in colorado and it was cheaper than from the company itself and it took only 2 days to get here.  I think it was like northridge4x4.com or something like that.  check into it

I just emailed Northridge to see if they have them in stock ready to ship.  I would be willing to cancel my order with aussie if I can get them from somebody else in the next week.  I need to setup these gears and install these lockers ASAP so I can get my front axle put back together and start getting some miles on the gears.

Thanks for the heads up bro!

Just for the record, Nothridge 4x4 is in Bremerton, WA.  Last I knew it was operated out of a garage which means very little overhead and good prices.  There are quite a few nice rigs running around here sporting Northridge 4x4 stickers.

Saturday 2/17/07

My dad and I worked on front springs, front spring hanger, and gettting the shackle angle where we thought it would work the best.  We orginally had the front spring hanger 3/4 of an inch forward of the stock hanger.  We hung the springs and got the axle under it and weight on it.  The shackle angle was bad, 0 on one side and 3 degress forward on the other.  We ended up moving it even with the frame and it worked better.

New shackle angle after moving hanger flush.

My dad working on clearancing for 4.7 gears in t-case.  We worked on the 4.7 case for part of the day.

I welded truss and armor on front axle as well as steering stop covers and getting knuckle gussets in place.

2/18/07
Worked on 4.7 case for several more hours.  Finally got it back together.

We also removed tranny and t-case from 4Runner

One good thing about removing tranny is now I can get to my EGR to remove it and put block-off plates in place a heck of alot easier  :D

I've had a rear main leak ever since I've rebuilt the motor 500 miles ago.  So, out with the tranny and in with a new rear main.

How I left my garage Sunday night.  Dirty and smelly like gear oil.

Hobert 135 to weld armor and trusses to axles and to tack stuff into place.  I will do my final welding with my dad's brand new Miller 210!!!!  I can't wait, I've never welded with anything bigger than that Hobart.

Dual cases are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Super big thanks to my dad for helping me once again, another weekend.  We removed leaky rear main seal, installed new rear main, reinstalled clutch, PPlate, flywheel, tranny.

Then we took apart second case and removed the rear half of the case, the 4 wheel drive part leaving the high / low section of the case.  Then we installed dual case adapter to the front case and then put the rear case on.

Next step was to install t-cases and the dang shifters that took us waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too long to get installed correctly.  We also had to cutup the floor of the cab for the new rear shifter.

All-Pro crossmember was installed and we called it a night.

EGR is removed as well with LC Engineering EGR blockoff kit

Sunday 2/25/07

Didn't get as much done today as I needed to.  I wanted to get the front axle fully welded up and painted and that didn't happen.  I did get quite a bit of parts cleaned and painted.  Everything is semi-flat black with the exception of the high steer arms, they are orange like the valve cover.

Steering knuckles taped up and painted

I work slow.  Took me forever to get the shifters installed and shifting in the correct pattern.  I tend to overthink everything I work on so it adds hours to my build.

I heard you need to paint the billet Marlin arms or they will rust.  I don't think I would powercoat them since you don't want to get anything down in the holes were the cone washers sit.  I taped them off so no paint would get down there.

you can paint them as longh as you dont paint the inner cone and flat surface where the shims go. if you did paint them i would make sure you retorque you knuckles all the time or until the paint is completly gone. its good to assemble the knuckles and them paint them because most likey you going to scrach them anyways.

It's commin along though really well, keep up the good work and wheel the piss out of it down their.  Do me a favor and bypass the lions back road closer and creep up that bad boy before it's closed for good.  JK don't do that or it might really be closed off forever, just buy a condo instead  :gap: Good luck  :usa:

I'll tell you this much, it's alot of work.  I've put in a ton of time on this project but I feel that I'm getting alot of knowledge out of it.  Before a couple of weeks ago, I'd never seen the inside of a t-case.  Now I feel like I could put one together or take one apart no problem.

The other thing about building it yourself is if I do have trouble on the trail with something, I should know how to fix it.  Plus, I've spent some quality time with my dad in the garage and hope to spend tons of quality time with my wife and daughter enjoying my 4Runner in the mountains.

No pictures but I got one locking hub cleaned up and back together.  I followed these instructions, they were very detailed.

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281879

I also cleaned up the other locking hub's hardware with the wirewheel.  I just need to paint the dial and outer housing and put it back together.

I also ordered up the FROF Proportioning Valve Kit to eliminate the rear LSPV.  I don't have time to buy a wilwood valve, get some brake line fitting, round up a flaring kit, and figure out how to do it.  I also ordered a new Firestik CB antenna, quick disconnect, and new coax.  Should work out great!
