He looks like he's doing good!    You can replace a rig and he's still alive, so it ain't that bad.

I know a guy who, years ago, fell off his roof and is now a quadriplegic.  And people feel sorry for him.  He tells them to F-off!  He's got a business, goes hunting every year, and still loves life.  So, I'd say your buddy Max is doing awesome.

Please pray for Matt and I. We have some really hard decisions to make over the next couple of months and we can't do it without God's help.

You got it Justina!

12 of my Firefighter brothers were told about two hours ago that as of 0830 tommorow, they were to turn in their badges, and no longer had a job.  This is due to blatant mismanagement of funds through the city council, and has resulted in their layoffs, and the cutting of several other positions around the city.

Please pray for these FFs, many of them have wives and small children, a few are single dads.

Thanks!

Thanks again for the support and prayers folks.  But we got bad news today.  It is lung cancer.   They said it's a dime sized mass and today she picked a specialist and tomorrow they will schedule a cat scan and a bunch more tests to see where to go from here.  She's a strong healthy woman and I am holding on to faith right now.  I just know she won't allow this to kick her ass.  Right now she's being strong for my Dad.  I don't know what to do or say or think or feel, but all there is to do now is wait and pray.

Hard to believe it's been 2 full years since I first posted this.  My stepmother put up a really good fight, but we are now facing the end.  In early December we learned that her cancer is now in her brain, and she has deteriorated very quickly.  She did go through almost 3 weeks of full brain radiation, but had to spend almost all of that in the hospital because she's doing so badly.  Tuesday was her last radiation treatment, and they transferred her to a skilled nursing facility, but she continues to deterioriate.  Tonight we made the decision to bring her home and let her pass away there, where she wants to be.    She needs 24-hour care at this point, and we will be bringing hospice in, but we're in for a rough couple of weeks until she passes away.   Please pray for strength for my family, I feel like we're going to need quite a bit of it.
RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:
thanks for the smooch I miss you too !  :yesnod:

Oh Jan I'm sorry. I'm glad you and your family get to at least say goodbye... rather than not having the chance. My grandma had requested to be at home when she passed, so she spent her last few weeks at home in bed as well. It was a lot easier (not that it was easy AT ALL) on the family to be able to be with her those past weeks because it brought the family closer together and that's what grandma always wanted. My prayers are with your family and that your step mom isn't in pain. *hugs*

It is the only decision.  The hospital is not a peaceful place to live the last moments.  But at home surrounded by your family is.

I don't know full details, but a good friend of mine could use some prayers.  She was skiiing with another friend today, and he had a skiing accident.  Apparently his heart stopped on the hill, they got it going again, got him to the trauma center here in Reno, where he wound up passing away.  That is all the information I have right now, please pray for his family, and for her, having been there for the entire event.

Thanks

A quick update on a both of my above requests:

1) My brothers are still laid off, with really no return in sight.  In reality, we're looking at another class worth of layoffs (18 or so, including me).  If this happens, I feel it will be short term, but I still ask for the prayers for the brothers that are laid off.  I know some of you will understand, but once you've had this kind of job, its hard to do anything else.  The variety of calls, the risk involved, everything else, its very difficult to explain.  I know I'd be lost without this job, and to know that fellow firefighters are laid off, and not likely to be rehired anytime soon breaks my heart.  I just ask for continued prayers for them, particularly those that are still struggling, and have families and young children they're trying to support.

2) My friend is doing pretty good, but I do ask for continued prayers for her.  Having talked to her parents, I've gotten more information.  Her friend was trying a jump that went horribly wrong.  When he impacted, he severed his brain stem instantly.  There is no recovery from that, but obviously no one would know that at the time.  She was doing everything to keep him alive, another skiier came along and headed down the hill to notify ski patrol.  She's doing alright, apparently his family are very devoted christians, and have been incredible in trying to comfort her.  I just ask for continued prayers for both her and his family.

thanks!

Well, its happened again.  We've lost 8 more of my firefighter brothers and sisters.  I'm just asking that you keep them in your prayers, as several of them have families, mortgages, bills, etc. and have now lost their livelihood.  I also ask that you keep those still in the line in prayer, as well as the public of Reno.  We're running at about 75% of our resources from 2 years ago, and we're shaping up for a hot fire season.

they have removed mom from the medicine to keep her blood pressure stable and she is holding her blood pressure up all by herself now.

I touched her and she opened her eye's i asked if she was in any pain and she shook her head, and I asked if she felt better and she nodded. :)

the nurse said she probably wouldnt remember any of it but that might be a good thing.

she is however still on a respirator :(

just got a call from Tina (i was too sick to go to the hospital with her) Mom is doing better, they have taken her off the Norepinephrine (makes the heart pump) completely and she's keeping her blood pressure up fine, and her "mean pressure" is in the 70's (has to be at least 60).

they have increased her feeding tube a...nd degreased the oxygen percentage from 100 saturday to 40 yesterday morning to 35,   then to 30 then before 8 last night they dropped the oxygen percentage down to 25% (nurse said we breath 21% from the air we breathe)
she said they had to sedate her this morning because she was trying to breath over the respirator so i'm hoping by this time tomorrow she will be OFF the ventilator machine.  :woohoo:

KEEP THE PRAYERS COMING THEY ARE WORKING

Ive got to go to my doctor at 10am tomorrow,  before i end up in the hospital myself
