Could the staun valve stem have been placed outside of the center section or does it have to go inside? I only ask becuase won't it be close to hitting the brakes? Looks cool, that would be a nice space saving idea for carrying a spare.

It depends on where the valve is in the tube. It has to be put where it doesn't pull on the stem.
