We need to make name tags that have our user names on them. This could get confusing.

I checked out the registration page last night.  Wow! Over 50 registered.  Thats awesome.  But then I went to bed thinking that maybe there was too much information there.  We are all aware of the recent thefts of Toyota trucks.  I think that a theif looking for a particular truck would find that this makes his life easier.  It ties our trucks, screen names and real names all together.  Now all a theif has to do is look us up in a phone book, or an online listing, and bingo! in most cases he would find an address!  Maybe I am a little paranoid, but I would rather be paranoid than without my truck.  Just a thought I had last night.

Well I had thought about that also but the only bit of info he could get is what city/state one is in and I think that is very easy to get from anyone, so I thought it was no threat. That info is public knowledge anyways. If someone wanted to get your truck Im sure they could even find your home address.... So just protect your truck and you'll be fine.... right?

But I was also considering just covering up the first 50 lines. I could just have a #, "50 Rigs Already Approved for Registration" but then just start the listing at #51.. And then once it gets up to say 75, I could just update it to "75 Rigs Approved..." and then have the next line be the #76th guy.

I could also remove the city names and just leave the state? I wouldn't mind that either, but the main reason I want to mention the cities is it makes caravaning so much easier. When it comes down to the last couple of weeks, I am going to make a new post listing all of the people who live near each other (within some radius, like 50 miles) so that they can meet up in their home towns and then travel to the con together. Driving with other people helps alot in staying awake and making the time pass by. Especially since most of us have CBs they can chat while driving. And I think its gonna be cool seeing 10 or 15 TOYOTA rigs all built and heading to the same place on the freeway :gap:

But I could remove the city names and then just organize these caravan groups by myself (which Im going to do anyways) and then just reply those members who live near each other here on the forum and no one would even need to know which city they live in..

...... I could also remove the last names and just refer to the first.

Remove the specific city and only show the State and remove the last name.

If you click on my user name you will see the city I live in which is Fresno, CA. I would give you $20 if you can find were I park my truck every night( hint: its not in a garage). If its going to get stolen, its more likely by a local guy then a web hunter.

Here is a fact of life! If a web hunter finds a truck he wants he will get it. Period!!!  It does not matter if  it's in a garage, lo-jacked, locked down, YOU IN IT. They will get!!! So to be able to sleep at night, put full coverage apprised insurance on your rigs...

I forgot, that was $20 to find it and $50 if you can sneek up and put a AllPro sticker on the windshield. :haha:

Hey mike, I thought about the options too.  There is no easy solution.  The ONLY thing I could come up with was maybe removing the last names  :dunno:

While its true that you cannot stop a determined thief from stealing your truck, I like to THINK that I have at least some control over this, and want to do EVERYTHING I can to prevent it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ruffle anyones feathers over this.  I was just concerned about this enough to say something.  Maybe I said it the wrong way.  Maybe I should have put it in a new thread, or not at all  :dunno:   You can delete this if you feel it's not appropriate.....I won't be offended, honest :)   I was only trying to help

Nice try KYOTA. You did get the color and body style right

Hey gturismo, I didn't mean to come off as upset, You have a very valid point. I look at the names and see friends and customers but some could look at that as a shopping list.
Taking back America, one part at a time! :madeinusa:

OffRoadGal

If there is definate concern over truck hunting shopping list, perhaps removing last names wouldn't be a bad idea. I would hate to see the running list of who's going shortened, or not get to see where people are from. But we really don't need to know each others last names. That would be the easiest and most thorough solution.
But like someone pointed out, I'm sure there would be much easier ways for a potential truck hunter to get a list of registered toyota's and their owners addresses if they really wanted to.
