Actually right at the trail head there is room for lots of trailers,  I believe there was a trailer that had 2 trucks that was parked there at loon lake

I'm sure we will have more details as the date approaches, but we will more than likely enter on the Placerville/Loon Reservoir side. There is a long wide dirt road that leads to the damn, plus a camp ground on the right side that I've never been into but I see countless motorhomes and car trailers there everytime I've been in. I don't know if they have any hookups... About 1/8 mile from this trailer parking / rig unloading site is another large opening right at the front of the trail head where, if you come early, you can unload your rigs too and park your tow rigs and trailers there as well. Space is more limited but its right at the trail head so its easy to unload, air down, and ride.

Also, for the Event Registration, I will finish it this weekend and get it up by Monday.
I think this is going to be the biggest turnout yet. And the fact that we are running the entire trail instead of just entering to the bowl is too cool 8)

As foar as I know there isnt any hookups just open spaces to camp and park,  I have been there twice and never saw any type of hook up

so we want to camp at the Springs? We will have the dogs with us (most likely) who will stay in the trailer. Assuming it is not going to be too hot if there are no hook-ups or we may have to make other arrangements for them. What's the temps like? So is that we enter on the Placerville/Loon Reservoir side and take the trail to the Springs side? We need to know the logistics of all this, we have no idea what to expect. But are sure looking forward to it!

Since you are coming from the east it will be shorter just to take the Tahoe side in like BluCruz is doing.  Although it is only an hour more to drive to the Loon Lake interence.  If you take the Tahoe interence there are a few campgrounds not that far from the trail  i bleieve.  You leave the trail there with hook-ups.  There are no hook-ups near the Loon Lake side and the weather can be cold some days and can be hot somedays.  hopefully this helps some.

Hot or cold, pretty much as I figured. LOL! We would want to have hook-ups. So on the Tahoe entrance, is that where the springs are where the event is being held? Or is that another area entirely within the trail system?
MrW has to get his hair cut and there's a Book's-a-Million next door, I'll see if they have any books on the Rubicon. Or I'll see if I can get anything online.
Does anyone have a trail map of the area that they can scan?
Anyone know the trail rating on the trail we'll be riding?
We could certainly hook-up with BlueCruz and roadtrip with him.

Right now I have IFS and stock t-case. I want to try to SAS or dual crawlers before this event, prolly not both, which should I do for the 'con? I've never been there, so I am not sure which would be a better mod to make for it.

OK, I got more info from twin60's on how this works. So we all meet in the middle at Rubicon Springs? And camp there for the night? This is a map I found. Is this what we are looking at riding?

Yes, but seriously you will enjoy the trail wwaayy more if you get to ride the whole thing + a group, so I'm sure we will figure out some starting time on the 16th, like at 3PM or something, were we can hopefully get a group together to start from the "Rubicon Staging Area" and take the whole trail in. Sure it'll take more time but you will enjoy the trail. We will probably camp near Spider lake Friday night and then make the Springs by Sat. Afternoon.

Or if you go in the back way you can make the springs by Fri night and then sit around there all day and relax. Or drive in the other way and meet us half way or something.. But I would recommend you, since its your first time, to run the trail in its traditional manner from Loon Lake in.

So there are two ways to leave if you enter from Loon:
On Sunday, you can ride the trail out and you will be at South Lake Tahoe, and will have to drive around on 50 to get back to Ice house road and then the 30min drive back up Ice House to get back to your towing rigs and load back up.
Or Sunday morning wake up and get an early start and head back out the trail towards Loon the same way you entered and just end up back at the starting "Staging" area and load up and go. If Willy Mammoth won't be street legal then this will be your only option. Many buggys cant drive on public roads so thats what they have to do anyways

I think we are going to shut down the shop that Friday and just meet at work 8am and try to leave Fresno by as late as 9am. Then we could possibly be at Loon by ~3pm.

Yes Mike, we definately want to ride with the whole crowd. I've been PMing with twin60's, if we're going to be camping two nights especially we are going to bring the dogs with us on the trail. Marks going to make a cage for them. They're little guys but they have always been camping and 4-wheeling with us.
The Mammoth will definately be street legal, it already is. It's tagged and registered, so going to shorter way out on Sunday sounds like a good plan.
I ordered a trail map and DVD of some jeep jamboree ride so we can get a feel for what to expect. (I tend to over prepare and get anxious if I don't know what to expect) LOL!
I am very psyched about this. What about food and such? Can we bring alkerhaul to drink at the campgrounds?

So did you say we can park the trailer in the staging area? If we're going to be riding out on Friday we probably won't need to pay for a campground. Or there's another area close to the staging area to park the trailers? We'll figure out what we need to do as the time gets closer.

looks like we got ourselves a convoy!    who else from this side of the world wants to join us on the road.

We're even debating whether to drag the trailer with us, if we're going to be tent camping in CA we might just lighten the load and get a smaller trailer to put the Willys on and tent camp our way out there.
We've still got 5 months to decide.

I don't think it matters what you drive, we've got a Jeep too, 1948 Willys, in theory but it's mostly Toyota parts now.
