I bring spare birfs, hubs & axles, Even a spare rear driveline. Make sure your differential drain plugs are good and tight. Full size spare if you got it, starting fluid, tire patch/plug kit, bailing wire, duct tape, zip ties, tools to repair just about anything, rags or absorbal to clean up your oil mess, Fire ext, first aid kit, tow strap(s), high lift jack, shovel & port-a-potty. You must take your piss & poop back out with you! By the time this run comes around we will not be able to have camp fires up there either, so bring blankets to keep warm at night.

Not set is stone yet but I guess I'm leading in a group from the Tahoe side on Thursday night to Rubicon Springs. My plan was to stop and drop off some camp supplies at Rubicon Springs then head up to Little Sluice/Spider Lake Friday morning to meet up with main group. Then back to Rubicon Springs on Saturday.

Well how can you say you ran the Rubicon if you don't run it right And that fork in the road for the first pic headed to old sluice is the only bypass, You have to go through the rest of it like the pic of the red yota that you said don't look like it's built.. Trust me it is built or he is stupid

Well I figured he has something in there it just doesn't look THAT extreme. Oh we're doing it alright    and knowing that is what we have to expect helps in knowing how to prepare.

What kinda rig rules are there? E brakes, overflow bottles for the radiator, seat belts helmets, emission cert ( how about for out of staters) Anything we should know? Is there a rig inspection before the run?

when did the fun police start that garbage? i run thru there all the time with out of state plates. as long as your ride is street leagle they cant hassle you can they?

Diane i hauled produce out of cali for 8 years  when you pic up the load you get a stack of papers 1 inch thick,  whe you cross the border you have only 2 or 3 sheets ,   if i go i will make sure i have removable mudflaps and a new windshield since mines all cracked

ok that page about the registraition laws was confuzing as all hell. my truck is licenced and every thing in oregon and i have an oregon ohv permit, there are no smog laws where i live so i dont know if i can get in trouble for all the smog stuff not being their. so basicly i just need to know if i need to get any fancy permits or any thing or can i just go down and wheel?

Last I knew for sure, if it had plates it was good to go. used to ride off road bikes and some duel porpuse ones. the off road ones needed a green sticker, the ones with plates ya just dove off into the sun set.

So if its street legal you dont need anything special? Up here (Oregon) we have to have an OHV sticker (even on street legal rigs) to run TSF which is a state forest

I suppose the only need for a dead line would be so that we will know how much food and drinks to bring. If you register by the 1st week of Sept. Im sure it will be ok

i think the few of us washington and oregon people should all meet up and cruise on down there. it takes me around 2-2.5 hours to get to portland. then from there part of the marlin mafia rolls on into CALI

Gatekeeper has turned easier thn it was in those pictures.  A couple rocks got moved and you can't hug that tree to the right when yo uare coming in through the trail.  You should have rock sliders, i went on the new line and smacked my rock slider so hard it scared me.  But i think it is easier the way it is now.  Maybe the rocks got moved back but i am not sure right now.
