I suppose the only need for a dead line would be so that we will know how much food and drinks to bring. If you register by the 1st week of Sept. Im sure it will be ok

What do we need for the trail? safety/communication wise? 

This'll be the first time I have ever done major rockcrawling, so I want to make sure I have the right stuff.  I dont wanna be responsible for holding the group back.  I am used to mud and logging trails so I want to be as prepared as possible

I am assuming fire extinguisher (have them, need to put them in)
CB radio?
full size spare?
I've got spare steering parts for my IFS and a halfshaft.

You know we don't know much about mountains down round these parts. In looking at some of the photo's on the TTOR site I am wondering if it is actually as intimidating as some of it seems or is it just some extreme rock crawlers that attempt that exteme but there are other ways around.
I am not expecting it to be easy by any means, I just need to know what to expect and prepare for.

As an example, in a picture like this:



is it that the only way is over that boulder? Or can it be navigated around to the left of it? Or is it really not that difficult to cliimb over a boulder like that if done right?

And the first picture on this page:

it doesn't appear to be any other way around that, or is that just a challenge trail that is side shoot off the main trail? Then again, the truck the guy is driving doesn't appear to be all that built.

But in any case I am very excited about being able to say We Did The Rubicon! Just need to know what we need to know.

Oh, and never mind on the missing picture anyway. I just read the caption to the left of it:

"Leaving Spider Lake you will cross some wet areas on the way to the Old Sluice. There are two routes here. To the north is the easier 'slab' route bypassing the Old Sluice. Taking the fork to the right will lead you on a challenging trail directly to the Old Sluice."

I bring spare birfs, hubs & axles, Even a spare rear driveline. Make sure your differential drain plugs are good and tight. Full size spare if you got it, starting fluid, tire patch/plug kit, bailing wire, duct tape, zip ties, tools to repair just about anything, rags or absorbal to clean up your oil mess, Fire ext, first aid kit, tow strap(s), high lift jack, shovel & port-a-potty. You must take your piss & poop back out with you! By the time this run comes around we will not be able to have camp fires up there either, so bring blankets to keep warm at night.

Not set is stone yet but I guess I'm leading in a group from the Tahoe side on Thursday night to Rubicon Springs. My plan was to stop and drop off some camp supplies at Rubicon Springs then head up to Little Sluice/Spider Lake Friday morning to meet up with main group. Then back to Rubicon Springs on Saturday.

Well how can you say you ran the Rubicon if you don't run it right     And that fork in the road for the first pic headed to old sluice is the only bypass,      You have to go through the rest of it like the pic of the red yota that you said don't look like it's built..   Trust me it is built or he is stupid
