Ok soooo somehow I went junk yarding to get some AC stuff, and ended up buying SqWADoosh a rear axle housing and axle shaft. How the hell did that happen? I blackout for a second and BAM, i'm riding home with them....Got a few small things. But no AC stuff. Anyone parting out an first gen 4runner or 84-88 pickup with all the AC stuff?

 you are the man. How do the brakes look?

zippo

We will have to check your e-brake setup. if they are different swap the brakes out. You might also need new inner axle seal.

As for adding A/C I hear that dealerships added the units to trucks and 4runners. Here is a link from yotatech where a guy added A/C to his 85 pickup for like $400. Seems totally reasonable. Said he got his parts from a toyota recycler in Rancho Cordova CA. Give them a call, they might be able to send you all the parts you need!

IT HAS BEGUN!

Finished the front axle. Still needs a breather. But otherwise Good 2 Go! (did you know good2go charges me 5.50 every time I cross the narrows?)

Spent like 10 min (or more like 1.5 hours) cleaning the trans. Its not perfect but good enough.

Pulled the runner in and closed the doors. I dont' need the neighbors calling the athorites, on what I'm about to do to it.

Started draining the fluids. If you look hard you can see  SqWADoosh's stuff in the upper left hand corner.

Makes sense with the armor, the cruiser axles seem pretty tough. Nice progress!
Gotta love a driveway with old school 4runners! haha

Cheesemaker

Too bad you didn't have all the stuff to do the front axle at the same time.

But progress none the less.  Unlike mine.

SOOO More work and More parts. I found evreything for the AC but after looking at it. Missed one section of harness...

The guy had a bunch of stuff including this 22, which has a nice hole in the side.

Drilled a 1 3/4 doubler drain hole in my sky cross member.

Built a holder/mount for the canister for the 5vz. Turned out great! I used 1x 1/8 mild steel. helipilot77 this is what happens when you leave a welder at my house.

I no longer need these holes on the fender. So they will be used.

So the high pressure fuel line and filter are done/figured. Well other then having the lines made up. I was thinking of going braided stainless, but am just going to use crimp ends. I used the 22re charcoal canister mount and added to it. I think it looks good. and will allow easy access. Could also easily add a pressure gauge with this method. Filter is -6AN in and out.

The filter is a 10 micron FUELAB 818 Series. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fue-81801-3

Put a -6AN bango on the fuel rail also. Should make for a quick and leak free hook up.

If you see it, its for sale.

Clean work all around zip. This swap is going to look so tits.

helipilot77

looks nice! that is where I put my fuel filter as well. It is a convenient place for it.

Thanks 84_yota_4wd! You are the best!

T-Case is done. 23 spline input to a doubler with 4.7's in the rear also 23 spline. My 2wd 4runner will crawl like a CHAMP!

Total spline 23 spline input.

Put it together!

RTV!

All together ready to go in. Ordered an AA 3.0 - T-case adapter today. This will be done soon.

AC holes drilled. I found a local AC ship I will be taking the parks to for a proper flushing.

If you see it, its for sale.

I got a box today in the mail. hmmmmm. Its from ORS.

Everything is super high quality. Most of it is OEM. What great parts to work with. All the hoses. Rear sump oil pan. New Motor mounts. Used 3vz block mounts. Frame side weld in mounts.

Old oil pan came off.

Engine looks clean.

Tapped the old dip stick tube.

Plugged it up.

Installed rear sump oil pan pickup.

This came wit the kit from ORS Its a shame I could use it as I am not a professional.

cleaned the used engine mounts

Bolted em one.

If you see it, its for sale.

So I just went through all 13 pages of this thread.  Had been kind of ignoring it because I though you were serious in the title about converting to 2WD from 4WD.  Heh, now I know better.

Super nice work, I'm in awe of all you get done on this thing!     I'm also super envious that you picked up such a nice rig for $1250 to start with.

I'm in Burien so maybe we'll see each other out on the trail sometime.
