Well damn! Yes we rebuilt mine with old wheels and did not rebalance it. I've had it up to 30psi no problems. All you need to do is mark the nut to the shaft AND the wheel. Is your compressor wheel the style that has the "integrated nut" machined into it or does it have an actual nut? Remember, it'll be a left handed thread so the turbo can't unwind itself and take extra care not to bend any blades. When I put mine back together I used a dab of red Loctite, you might have to heat the nut up to free it up.
Heres an example of average cost  http://www.xsboostturbochargers.com/products/td025td03-rebuild-kit-superback-volvo-2-8l-2-9l-twin-turbochargers/
Shouldnt run you over $90 to rebuild it. Also, what size of oil feed line are you running? I believe I'm running -4an without a restrictor.

The nut is Esperanto from the wheel. Yea I'll just mark everything should be fine. Thanks

I have a 4an and I was running it without a restrictor. It might not of had anything to do with the oil pressure might just be worn out but there's hardly any shaft play I guess a seal can still wear out regardless of shaft play. I ordered another oil line with the t4 adapter plate you can screw a line too. It looks like the hole in the plate is super small and can be drilled out to specific size for desired flow. I'll either rebuild it or buy another t3/t4 and run an ex waste gate and build a new header in the process

With journal bearing style turbos we never run restrictors, just the 4an line. Its typical to have to replace the seals on older turbos, just like a piston ring so I would go that route if I were you. Sounds good to build another mani with an external wastegate, 38mm would work well with your setup. Go with a Vband style, can't go wrong!

Cool, sounds good. Even though I have this little gt25 on here again I'm still guna wire up this maf sensor cal and make at least a base map to drive around on. This tuning business gets a little crazy, seems like a dyno wouldn't be a bad thing to have at your house or at least some rollers so you could just sit in your shop and drive 100 miles without havin to drive all over hell and back. I think when I do the serious open loop tuning and transitions from open to closed ill just spend a lot of time on the same country road. Then I can use the same rpm changes on certain hills and corners and see if changes I make are better or worse or same. Almost need a buddy with you that's either good at driving or understands the software. I might have to put my wife in training.

Here's there wiring the maf cal calls for. 5 wires, it's pretty straight forward. I soldered everything, shrink rap, and awsome orange elect tape

Oh yeah! Now you're talking! I see that you can set up watermeth injection signal off this thing as well!!! You've gotten me thinking about megasquirt PNP for my 85.... I really want to boost that thing. I scored a TD05 off of a mitsubishi diesel with VGT and I already have a manifold flange from LCE.... tempting....

Yea I noticed it said that on the pinout sheet. I've looked at the watermeth a bit sounds like an awsome setup. Down the road it's def something I wana do.

ATTENTION BIG MIKE! If your out there maybe you can answer a question? I still have the same gauge cluster in my truck from when it had a 3.4.. The rpm have always been off with the 3rz. I'm assuming the calibration is different for the two engines and their tach? Is there anything I can do or do I need to get a cluster from a 4 banger?  I always do my research before asking q's but I'm pretty sure you kno the answer to this. I think I already kno the answer but I wanted to ask the the guy with the impressive 4 banger knowledge!

Another thing, why is your clutch so damn expensive? Is that just an Audi thing? I kno German parts can be high I owns Volkswagen jetta but sheesh 1k for a clutch and flywheel, must be a puck clutch and a lightened flywheel or are you talkin factory parts prices?

Right before the turbo swap

Photobucket is giving me hell, i'll post up some more pics at work.

Everything for the direct injected fsi audi's/vw's are expensive... should have done more research before I pulled the trigger but oh well... I do love the car and I might as well finish what I started. Its been an awesome learning experience with tuning, turbos and euros though! I went with a single mass steel flywheel, found a good deal on one for $470 yesterday. Now I need to figure out which clutch I want... I hate chatter so I need smooth operation but something strong enough to handle over 400 ft/lbs of torque... :headshake: I'm going up to courdelane monday with my family and hitting up silverwood and take the guitar over to my cuzn's to have a good jam session/beer drinkin night :beerchug:

Yes, dual mass. Two piece flywheel with springs like a clutch hub. Dodge Cummins run the same thing. Springs wear out then they chatter like mad and take out the clutch.

Yeah. German engineers thought it'd be a good idea to run a dual mass to help with vibration and engine chatter.  EXPENSIVE. Just did a clutch on a mini cooper.  it was crazy expensive. $4200 or something like that

That's a sick lookin ride. My wife's folks have a 2.7t it's super nice to drive it's an 02 a6 Quattro but it's still pretty sweet. It needs a driverside turbo as of a couplè months ago I'm guna fix it for them soon as they're ready. Road trip in your car sounds fun. I'm sure you like drivin it far and put it to the test.

Well you've seriously convinced me that I have to boost my 4runner. Going to get the megasquirt P2P ECM and run a Holset hx35 with another custom manifold, remove upper intake plenum and weld a 3'' plenum on that with some bigger injectors on about 15psi. Why not? I can't stand driving a vehicle that doesn't whistle at me every time I get on the gas!  :wink2: Plus I'm back to being single again and have a few extra bills I need to spend on something  :yesnod: :beerchug: :driving: :burnout:

Those are the pics I wanted to see.  Everything is super clean. Gives me lots of ideas and confirms that my truck really does have a ghetto turbo kit. Haha. My next plan will look a bit better and most important perform better, Pretty soon. I finally figured out how to get the USB adapter for my piggyback to work for cryin outload. So now that another week has gone by I'm hoprfully guna make some better power this weekend. Soon as I get the t3/t4 I'll feel a lot better with puttin everything I got into tuning everything perfect plus I still need a wideband. Anyone kno any tricks to reading afr without havin a 300 wideband? Anyone being twisted toy. Ha

I still have the same gauge cluster in my truck from when it had a 3.4.. The rpm have always been off with the 3rz. I'm assuming the calibration is different for the two engines and their tach? Is there anything I can do or do I need to get a cluster from a 4 banger?

Dakota digital makes tach signal adapters. I had to use the SGI8 when I did my diesel swap.

The sta-1000 seems pretty cool. You can cal your speedo for different tire size, cal your tach, and some other junk.
