Yep, I'm on hold a bit til I get a wideband gauge and I'm also gunna buy a brand new turbo that's the correct size. I still have a little Garrett on as of right now It's too small but I started playin with a fuel map anyway to see if I could fine tune things and actually get smooth non hesitant power. I was runnin lean all over in closed loop so I made some progress there, I'll do more today, as for open loop I need an afr gauge, so I'll have to get me one, and a good scan tool for my lab top so I can overlay it on my fuel map. Cause right now every time I turn the motor off to make changes I have to reset my plug in scan tool.

eBay for 157$. I really wana set it up so I can just tune in closed loop with the wideband instead of using the fuel trim %'s. From what I read one of the wideband features is to do so. That way I just tune closed loop and open loop all from what my wideband shows. I'm already pretty dialed in on closed loop but it would be nice to see what the afr is. Super stoked

I've never hooked a wideband up but if it's able to tell if you're in open or closed loop then it must tap into the ecu somewhere.  Or does it just show afr all the time ?

It shows AFR all the time, you can tap into the ecu too. My car runs a wideband o2 from the factory so I can just compare my datalogs to my wideband gauge and they are always dead nuts on.

Cool. I figured it showed afr all the time. I was confused when the innovate ad said u can also use afr in closed loop. Guess I'll get a better understanding of what they mean when I see the connection guide and using the different features of the kit.

I decided to rebuild my Garrett tb03. It's a good size for now and the wastegate is 7psi and has a low of 5. If everything works out on the rebuild this will be what I'm guna run until I can buy a whole new setup. It will be nice to tune something I kno is rite for my motor.

Make sure you install the rings with the gap up in correlation with the way you mount the turbo, they break in better and smoke less.

You mean whatever way the turbo is mounted make sure the gap is on the top?

Dam good advice. I wouldn't have paid any atten. To wich direction the ring was. Anywho everything I'm reusing looks really good, the turbine shaft is nice and straight and nothing ever rubbed I caught it before that happened. Should be a successful rebuild.

Its all the tricky small details that make things better. I've grown up around some outstanding mechanics and fabricators so I learned to absorb as much info as possible. Its definitely paid off! Once I get my runner done we should plan a wheeling trip next spring or something. Like to see this in person.

For sure. I'm not super far from you so that might work out. I grew up doin the same but seems like a lot of the time I was learning how to do everything by research. I didn't have too many people showin me, seemed like they always wanted me to show them. I should have spent more time around old timers.

Looking good! That wide band will be a huge help! I'm gonna be wiring in my tuner in the next 2 weeks or so. My afr is lean at idle and pig fat at full boost. Once i get it dialed in it should make a huge difference. Ya gotta love turbo's, Boost is addictive!!

Outstanding man!!! Yes I've been blessed to be around old school gear heads that saw my interest and motivation to make things run smoother. You are doing very well,  keep it up! Turbo will be smoke free lots longer with the way you built it. Unfortunately I blew another front diff yesterday but oh well... need to SAS it but I'll pick up another ifs diff for a bill for now... thats like the 8th one.....  rather focus on the runner now.

No smoke so far. I took your advice and there's actually two clips I positioned up, one on the exhaust side and one on the compressor side. So how many trucks you got now, two? Or three? Or just a pickup and the runner?

Wideband should be in the mail any day now. And yes I'm completely addicted. I closed my wastegate all the way and sure enough it opens at 7 psi and starts spoolin the second I touch the pedal wich I don't kno yet if I want it that way or to start spooling at higher rpms
